(Required for Silver and Gold) P-8: Train permitting staff on best practices for permitting solar PV and/or solar and storage systems. Topics will include: 8:45a - 9:15a • Intro/overview of solar soſt costs • SolSmart designation levels and criteria (focused on permitting criteria) • Examples of technical assistance provided through the SolSmart program • Minnesota overview: where do MN SolSmart cities fall and what are biggest opportunities and challenges ahead Minnesota Local Government Solar Toolkit: This session provides an overview of Great Plains Institute’s Minnesota Local Government Solar Toolkit, with an emphasis on permitting guidelines. 9:15a - 9:45a Break 9:45a - 10:00a Solar & Permitting 101: This session will cover solar permitting best practices. Topics will include: 10:00a - 11:15a Online checklists Permitting applications and turnaround times Streamlined vs. standard reviews Calculating fees Considerations for fire and safety staff Break 11:15a - 11:30a Storage & Permitting 101: This session will cover storage permitting best practices.
