Preparation for the Upgrade

1. Obtain the Version Package and the Site Maintenance

Terminal (SMT) for upgrade (BTS3900

V100R002C00SPC030)

2. Prepare a laptop and a ETH cable for the Upgrade on site

3. Install the BBU with the GTMU and WMPT boards

4. Install the power cables for BBU

5. Power on the BBU


Upgrade GTMU(GSM)


Preparations for Upgrading the GTMU

(GSM) Checking the Software Version of the GTMU1.Connect the SMT PC to the GTMU for local maintenance

2. On the SMT, choose User > Login. Log in to the Site Maintenance Terminal System with username Omc and password Omc

3.Set the maintenance IP address to 192.168.0.xx, which is not 192.168.0.72.

4.Start the SMT, and then click Site255 in the navigation tree.

--In the main window, the site may not be “Site255”, and the operation is not affected. This paper uses “Site255” as example.


Preparations for Upgrading the GTMU

(GSM) 5.Press F5. Type cf** in the textbox, and then press Enter to go to the superuser mode.--The ** denotes the value of the hour in the current system time, which is displayed in the 24-hour format. For example, if the current system time is 14:15, the password is cf14.

--The password is case-sensitive, and cf must be in lower case. The system time uses the 24-hour clock.

6.Click Board in the navigation tree, and then double-click Board Management under Function

7. Query the GTMU software version --In the displayed Board Management window, right-click the GTMU and then choose Board Information from the shortcut menu


GTMU Upgrade Operation Obtain the site management right1. On the SMT, click Site255 in the left pane and double-

click Site Management Right in the Function list on the right

2. The Site Management Right dialog box is displayed3. Click Get4. A dialog box is displayed5. Click OK to obtain the site management right6. Click Close Load the GTMU Software1. On the SMT, click Site255 in the left pane and double-

click Forced Software Load on the Function list on the right. Selecting Forced Software Load


GTMU Upgrade Operation Set the associated parameters, as shown below

1. In the File Name textbox, specify the full path to the file for the upgrade.

2. Retain the default value of Send Window Size.3. Under Version, select the second checkbox, and type

V100R009C00SP11 in the textbox that follows.4. On the File ID drop-down list, select GTMU_MAIN. 5. Click Start.6. The software download is started.7. Wait until the progress bar displays 100% and the

status bar displays Loading Software Successfully, and then click Close.


Load and Activate the MRRU Software Use the same method to load the MRRU software

Activate the MRRU software 1. On the SMT, click Site255 in the navigation tree, and

then double-click Software Activation under Function2. In the displayed dialog box, set the associated

parameters, as shown below--Under Version, type V100R009C00SP030--To activate the software of a single MRRU in this step,

type the board number of the RRU3908 in the Board No. box. If no board number is specified, the software of all RRU3908 of the BTS will be activated

--In the File ID drop-down list, click MRRU_MAIN3.Click OK. The software activation starts. After the

activation is successful, click Close


Activate the GTMU Software Use the same method to activate the GTMU software

1. On the SMT, click Site255 in the left pane and double-click Software Activation on the Function list on the right

The Software Activation dialog box is displayed2.Set the associated parameters, as shown below--Under Version, select the second checkbox, and type

V100R009C00SP11 in the textbox that follows.--On the File ID drop-down list, select GTMU_MAIN.3.Click OK. Software activation starts. 4.Wait until the status bar displays Activation is confirmed

and the Site will be reset in a few minutes, and then click Close.


Release the site management rights 1. On the SMT, click Site255 in the navigation tree, and then double-click Site Management Right under Function.

2. In the displayed Site Management Right dialog box, click Release.

3. Click Close.


Upgrade

WMPT(UMTS)


Upgrade WMPT(UMTS) preparation1. Prepare the Software version and a USB stick2. Prepare the script as the format of below3. Copy the software version to the USB stick :NodeB software: \\NodeB\Software\Software.cspBootRom: \\NodeB\Software\Firmware.cspData configuration file: \\NodeB\Configuration\NodeBCfg.xml


Upgrade WMPT(UMTS)

1. Plug the USB stick to the WMPT USB port2. Unplug the USB stick after finish the upgrade


Comission NodeB with the laptop

Set your network card IP like the picture:


Open the NodeB LMT and login to this IP:

17.21.2.15 with the username: admin and

password: NodeB


Go to Maintenance\Software Update. Select

download from FTP server (your laptop) to NodeB.

Browse for the sofware on your laptop and select

Ok, check Reset Promptly. The NodeB will restart.


Go to Data Config File Transfer. Browse for the

NodeBCfg.xml from your laptop. The NodeB will

restart.


Upgrade

MRRU3908


Upgrade MRRU39081. Plug the fibers with optical module in the correct CPRI

port for each MRRU3908--according to the layout of each site 2.The MRRU3908 will automatically upgrade to the same

version as GTMU or WMPT3.Check the MRRU3908 version
