Notes:
(a) SuperLoader 3 competes with the 12-slot models; Scalar i40
competes with the 24-slot models. StorageCare Guardian a remote
monitoring and diagnostics tool proactively monitors your
SuperLoader 3 over the Internet and uses intelligent diagnostics to
remotely service the unit if necessary
(b) HP and Overland offer an optional expansion kit, enabling
libraries to stack and pass cartridges through Dell and IBM dont
offer this option it is cumbersome and has proven unpopular;
Tandberg T24 ships the 12-slot models with only one magazine (RH)
and another magazine can be bought for additional capacity
(c) SpectraLogic has an advanced management feature, but many of
its features require use of proprietary SpectraLogic media, while
Quantums iLayer management software supports all LTO media brands;
also iLayer is the market leader with over 35,000 tape libraries
shipped
(d) The T80+ is made of two T40+ libraries with a pass-through,
so its not truly an 80-slot library a third T40 can be added, with
another pass-through; this design has proven cumbersome and
unpopular
(e) iLayer management software has shown to reduce library
management time by over 50%
(f) iLayer is the market-leading advanced management software
with over 35,000 iLayer libraries shipped
(g) SpectraLogic restricts some of its advanced management
features to only work with SpectraLogic brand media, while Quantums
iLayer supports all LTO brands
