Annual Report Fiscal Year 2011 (July 2010 - June 2011)

Page 2: SM - Rainbows United

Mission Rainbows United, Inc. enhances the lives of children with special needs and their families by bringing together community resources and providing customized services.

Letter from Deb Voth, President

Thanks to the tireless dedication of Board members, the devoted professionals providing services and our wonderful community support, Rainbows has overcome many odds and served over 3,500children with special needs or at risk and their families in FY2011.

The year has been propelled with a commitment to implement a new culture of openness and collaboration. The driving force of this change has been a set of 10 Guiding Principles. These clear objectives were formed through a variety of staff activities and then approved by Rainbows’ Board of Directors. They mean more to Rainbows than something eye-catching to hang in the lobby, they are principles to guide our decision making at all levels. You’ll find them on the pages of this year’s Annual Report, along with the audited financial statements and recognition of our generous donors.

Each employee has the Guiding Principles attached to their name badge. Trainings take place on what it means to implement them as services are provided and daily activities are accomplished. New ways of doing things are evaluated, business practices are improved and procedures for daily tasks are adjusted to become more efficient.

We’re looking at how we do every task from billing to in-home visits, from child care to hiring qualified staff. It’s been a challenge, but one we have embraced with our talented Board of Directors and determined staff members.

In keeping with being responsible stewards of our assets and resources, Rainbows continues to successfully repay creditors at 100 percent, we still have several years to go. We’ll need special care as we double our annual giving to make sure children with special needs in our community get the services they need.

Join me and Be A Friend of Rainbows,

Deb Voth, President
