Silent Auction and Fall Festival

Thank you, Volunteers!

(and to all of the family members who supported their efforts!)

This year’s team of Fall Festival volunteers, including parents, Fernway staff, alumni and friends, helped in so many ways to guarantee success of the Fall Festival Day:

Some helped solicit merchants

Some made or collected donations

Some bundled baskets and tagged items

Some designed certificates & signs

Some will work shifts the day of the Festival

Some will count the money

Some organized volunteers

Some organized the raffle

Some planned and shopped for prizes

Some worked on games

Some ran the bake sale

Some baked

Some will help set up and clean up

Some kept everyone informed

Thank you, Fernway Families! Many THANKS to our fantastic Fernway families and friends! Fernway Families donated many awesome auction items along with a bounty of goodies for our theme baskets. Thanks to all of you – along with anonymous donors -- for all of your contributions!!!

Thank you, Fernway Staff! Many THANKS to our fantastic Fernway Staff! Every classroom teacher and many other staff members made wonderful contributions. They helped collect items for the auction, and passed out numerous flyers! Their valuable time, talents and other donations, on top of their daily dedication, patience and guidance for our children, are MUCH appreciated!

and of course, thanks to our Advertisers & Donors! Please see the list of Advertisers and Merchant Donors on the back cover and let them know you appreciate their support of our school by supporting their businesses!

We couldn’t have done it without all of you! 3

B I D D I N G R U L E S & I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. CHECKING IN (starting at 1 pm)

All bidders must be 21 years of age or older

Anyone who wants to bid on any item at the Silent Auction must register for a bidder number. All bidding is done by numbers, not names. Just give your name and phone number, and you will be assigned a bidder number.

You can still register even if you are unsure about whether or not you want to bid on anything. There is no charge or obligation to bid on anything just by registering.

The check-in table and volunteers will be located at the entrance to the auction – follow the signs!

2. BIDDING (from 1 – 3pm)

Each item will have a bid sheet that notes its name and number along with its opening bid (which is typed in the first row of the bidding grid).

To bid, write your bidder number & dollar amount of your bid on the next available line of the appropriate bid sheet.

The first bidder must follow the typed opening bid (or make a higher bid).

All bids must be made in whole dollar amounts (for example, $5, $73, or $120, but not $42.75) and must follow the specified minimum raise amount.

Throughout the bidding time, bidders can continue to make higher bids, trying to win that item. Be sure to check back periodically so that you can increase your bids as you’d like.

Remember, it’s a fundraiser, and feel free to bid more than the valued amounts!

During the final thirty minutes of bidding, the time remaining will be announced.

When the closing bell rings, all bidders must put down their pencils and step back from the auction tables.

For each item, the bidder who has the highest VALID bid at the time the auction closes will win that item.

Any improper bid, meaning bids that don’t follow the specific minimum raise, illegible bid amounts, illegible bid numbers, or bids placed after the closing bell, will be rejected as invalid.

When bidding is closed, please exit the auction area quickly so that volunteers can collect bid sheets and determine the winning bidder numbers for all auction items.

3. CHECKING OUT (from 4 – 5pm)

At 4pm, please come back to the Silent Auction Check-Out area to see if you have won anything. There will be a sign listing the bidder numbers which have items to check out.

All items need to be paid for (by cash or check payable to Fernway PTO) and picked up by 5pm on October 19th. There will be a $15 service charge for any bounced checks.
