Interview with NotAdolfHitler

nerau: what was it like back when you first joined IRON?

Notadolfhitler: Well, RH said every-one wanted to kill me , lol , But there were many distinct differences, the squads were seperated into 4 parts, then from there two squads were in that , also almost anyone who wanted a job in the milcom had it, It was

much much more militaristic than it is now

nerau: would you say the goals of council have changed to meet the dif-ferent world we have?

Notadolfhitler: Well of course, when i first joined IRON was neutral, IRON knew that if we stayed neutral our alliance would not have survived as long as it did

nerau: what makes NAH inspired?

Well its a game and its meant to be

fun, and right now I am having a blast. Basically i love what im doing and plan on continue doing it for a while, Also the community is the only real reason im around , I barely even watch my nation , lol

nerau: and finally any closing re-marks?

I JUST USED CRAYONS TO COL-OR A GRAPH , that is all

Letters to the Editor

This may be, as the song states, “a momentary lapse of rea-son” on my part…but in my constant struggle to find that certain something….that one thing that lights a fire under

IRON members ….I am open-ing the floor to all of you …….I

want to hear what you really think….where you would like

to see IRON go, what you would like to see this alliance

achieve…who you want to compliment or not, why you

stay with this alliance and not

wander off into the abyss.

So I am introducing…Letters to the Editor

1. Keep it short and sweet….. 250 to 300 words

2. Keep it “libel-free.” You can criticize someone but don’t expect your letter to receive the light of day if you slander or libel someone. Free speech does have its limits.

3. Show good taste. This one is difficult. What is tasteless to one is a freely spoken opinion to another. Remember: you want to get the letter published, so curb your language accordingly.

Discordia of Tartaros

Discordia has been an excellent model of what a student should be within the Republic. He took initiative, interest, and showed loyalty within the Republic by carrying himself onto the an-other level. He has been distin-guishable from the start and he has been truly extraordinary. He currently serves as a Recruiter and is an active participant in a government action.

Kasabian

“When completing his TDP tasks, Kasabian exhibits extreme carefulness to make sure that all tasks are completed in the cor-rect way, on time, and in a way to ensure that all CTI nations have been helped in their search for a trade circle. Kasabian’s dedication to this job is one of the reasons why the TDP runs so smoothly in relation to complet-ing and creating trade circles.”

Nerau

Nerau has stepped up in the BoI taking on layout when RL troubles plagued others. He is there to help on any project, and volunteers that help freely. “Hard working, acts as my right hand man, revamping the diplo library while still heading up a team but yet never complains. He does this while holding down a lot of other jobs.”

Andrew734

Andy has been a diligent worker in the BoI He has done a variety of jobs and does them all well. He is always there to offer to help to anyone in the depart-ment. He is a positive influence on the team and has a good atti-tude and a good sense of humor, which is needed cause things can get stressful at times. He has taken on the wiki which is a big job and I can trust he will do it well. I would like to thank him for all his good work.

Nation Check Up

Some say the strength of an alliance is on the members, the unity and the espirit de corps among them. Some others say it’s in the pixels, the infra, tech, nukes and warchest of the na-tions. We, in IRON, are very strong on the first one, with a great, organized and downright awesome membership, an alli-ance of brothers. As for the sec-ond one, we have the Vault and it’s amazing programs to keep us on the vanguard of economic development. However, individ-ual members may have inquires

about individual nation growth and the little game quirks to maximize economical growth. There are guides for general rules, but for single nations there is a much better, friendlier, choice: Nation Check-Up!

I’ve had the privilege to inter-view the Nation Check-Up staff, asking them questions about the nature of their office and their work there...

Thanks for the opportunity. Now, straight to the point: What’s the function of the Na-tion Check-Up?

Narsis: The Nation Check Up Department gives advice to na-tions that ask for it, usually on something they themselves may have missed. It also gives advice that is more specific to each na-tion, rather then a general do this guide.

IronMan17: The function of the Nation check-up is to make sure all nations are growing properly, and to keep track of IRON’s Nations. Each audit allows the nation to learn from bigger and older players who know their stuff.

So, how’s work there?

Preston: Not sure what youre asking; I haven’t done much with them yet, though I’ve given input in a few active nation checks. Looking at the forums they’re getting ready to split the IRON nation list up into groups to be passively audited, but it doesnt look like that’s started yet.

Tinuszke: Good, unlike in the mentor program, people come to the NCU department because

they really want to improve their nation or want info/discussion on some topic so the “custom-ers” are a lot more motivated that in the mentor program.

Got any interesting anecdote?

welder572: No but i’ll try to get you a good one. We need a motto.“Improving IRON, One Nation At A Time”“Here To Help You Get Your Na-tion Up And Growing”“We Check Your Nation So You Dont Have to”

Davian Thule: Well, we always do make puns with people’s nations. Like Betsy was told to remove all Belgiums from his nation as he’s a Belgium. Well, they’re Dutch, but you get the idea. It’s a pretty solid job too, you get to check our people’s nations,

Blaskowicz

improve your own on ideas given to others. It’s quite rewarding to see information that you passed onto someone really help them and their nation.

What are the most common things you see people do (or don’t do) for their nation’s economy?

nerau: Common stuff like tanks improvements and such

Tinuszke: - The most important thing is that people don’t save enough money. I’ve been in IRON for three years and every war there are people (with large nations) that go broke within 3 weeks of fighting. If you don’t have enough money, you can’t rebuild and it will take A LONG TIME to get back to where you were before. I’ve always saved more than recommended and now I find myself some 30 places

higher in the IRON rankings. Assuming 10 deletions/resigna-tions, that means that 20 ppl didn’t have their stuff organised. Saving money is all about pa-tience (some find it boring to not grow for 3 months) and looking ahead (saving for 3 months saves 6 months of rebuilding time)- Too many young nations don’t have their aid slots full with tech deals, they are just wasting money- Older nations don’t have their slots full with tech deals so they have too little tech (both due to a lack of farms and effort spent to find farms)- People think that improve-ment swapping is difficult but it isn’t, especially compared to the rewards you get, it is very worthwile to take some time and learn it.

Gamemaster: Most people forget to make sure they have the right

government setting for uranium. If you have nukes, chose op-tion 3. If you have uranium and no nukes, option 2. If you have neither uranium or nukes, chose option 1.

Got any last advice or message for our readers?

Narsis: Yes. Come get your na-tion checked! Now!

Preston: Especially for younger nations who have questions or want to learn how CN me-chanics work, get on IRC and ask around - there’s a lot of accumulated knowledge float-ing around in there, and if they don’t know how to answer your question they can probably help you find someone who will. And also, make sure to keep your warchests ready - we’re paying reps right now, but you seriously never know when something will

happen.

nerau: Yea please read the rest of our heralds, that is all.

Davian Thule: Stop keeping ex-cess Military and help out with reps if you’re not already!

IronMan17: Join us

Tinuszke: It’s not that hard to build your nation better than the average player, it just takes a bit of effort.

Gamemaster: Listen when we give you advice. It’s correct.

So, if you have any questions about your nation development, wonder purchases, economy, trades, government choice, and the like, what are you waiting for? Visit the Nation Check-Up subforums and ask away!

IRON Timeline

Narsis : So first off what is the timeline project?

Crusty Juggler: It’s a 2 part project, first compiling a list of major events throughout IRON’s history, gathering names/dates/links/etc.Second, visually depicting that information in a series of time-lines that lets one see how events in our history built up or came to be.

Narsis: So what made you de-cide to take on this project?

Crusty Juggler: DVD ap-proached us (BoI staff) about the new subforums and what he envisioned them to be, and the timeline seemed to be a logical extension of the work I was do-ing for the wikipedia and at the same time fit into the idea of The Republican.

Narsis : So what do you hope to achieve with this timeline?

Crusty Juggler: I wanted it to be quick way to reference any part of IRON’s history and as supple-ment to the wikipedia team’s history project. Shan (iirc) wrote out a great history of IRON, but it only emcopassed our history up until after Meterman’s presi-dency, and didn’t have links off to the events described. Now when you read about how IRON got its name, or its first treaty, you can click on over to the timeline, find the relevant link to

old owf announcements.

Narsis : Who else is working with you on this and how/where are you getting the information?

Crusty Juggler: Lets see, we’re getting most of the info by digging through our forums, CN wikipedia, and both Open world forums (old and new). For a while it was just me going through each page of the owf, I’d hop on and bug people on skype and IRC for help when I’d get stuck. Gamemaster was a help on several occasions. I then was able to hire some helpers, of which Lorkz Kain has been working with me on the timeline project. The council timeline is his baby. Can’t forget to men-tion Nerau, Bcndwilson, and all the other BoI guys who’ve given me input.

Narsis: Are there any particular

events in IRON’s history that you’d like to bring forward to everyone’s attention? and why?

Crusty Juggler: Quite a few actually, I was thinking of doing a “On this day in IRON’s his-tory” sort of thing, got to finish it first though. Most of the time its interesting things like, did you know IRON once had trea-ties with GOONS, /b/, and CIS? Another fun one is Alpha Squad-ron declaring war on TOOL, and then after the war we signed our current treaty. We’ve had a long history and its important to know major events and what happened, else some troll on the OWF will pick you apart.

Narsis : Anything else you’d like to say?

Crusty Juggler: I’m not perfect and this has been over a month in the making, if anyone spots errors send me a pm!

Narsis

There’s more to joining an al-liance than you think…come help out…meet people…learn new things..
