The programme was kick started jointly with planting of Mulberry Saplings by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Kathua, Dr. Shubhra Sharma, and Director Sericulture Gulzar Ahmad Shabnum in presence of District Sericulture Officer Anju Koul and Senior Officers of District Administration and Sericulture Department. The Additional District Development Commissioner, while appreciating the initia- tive of Sericulture Department termed it as a viable gesture to reshape the urban landscape and ensure sustainable healthy environ- ment. She said that concerted efforts to facilitate such pro- grammes shall have long last- ing effects on the conservation and beautification of cities and towns. Speaking on the occasion, Director Sericulture enumer- ated advantages of urban Mulberry plantation and said that 2000 highly improved Mulberry plants are targeted for plantation within the municipal limits of Kathua. He said that the Department is delivering Mulberry plants at doorsteps of people free of cost and extending all techni- cal assistance to the interested people. He said that under urban Mulberry plantation institutions and other protect- ed establishments and vacant state lands in Kathua town shall also be covered. He appealed the urbanites to avail the benefits of this pro- gramme and associate with Sericulture Department for a conscious role in beautifica- tion and maintenance of healthy environment in the cities and towns. District Sericulture Officer, Kathua also spoke on the occasion and enumerated var- ious facets of Urban Mulberry plantation. She said that all the stake holders shall have to work together for better upkeep and maintenance of urban mulberry wealth and motivate urban populace for venturing in profitable sericul- ture activities. Later, a vehicle loaded with highly improved Mulberry Plants was flagged off by the dignitaries for free of cost dis- tribution of plants among the households, Institutions and Govt. Establishments within Kathua Town. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: An oath-taking ceremony was organised for the newly elected Chairman Municipal Council Rajouri Arif Jat and Vice-chairman Bharat Bhushan Vaid. Handicraft Deptt organises awareness camp STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Handicraft Department on Friday organ- ized an awareness camp to sen- sitize the local stakeholders about central schemes launched to boost handicraft sector. Joint Director Handicraft, Jammu Anju Gupta was the chief guest who formally inau- gurated the camp. A large number of villagers from Chak Rakhwalan, Malhar, Bakli, Tikri, Neeli Nallaha, Ritti and Tabbri par- ticipated in the event. While addressing the camp, the chief guest highlighted the schemes run by the Department. She said that the main objective of organizing this camp is to generate aware- ness among women stakehold- ers about various schemes of handicraft department. Meanwhile, the Handicraft Artisans present at the aware- ness camp were guided to take Handicrafts as their source of earning and livelihood and get- ting themselves registered as Artisans in the district office. STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana on Friday reviewed the physical and financial achievements under District Capex Budget 2018-19, here at a meeting. Detailed discussions were held on a host of issues including various sectors and progress on languishing projects. Taking sector wise review, the DDC directed the officials of line Departments to expedite the pace of work to achieve the targets set for current fiscal. He stressed on judicious and full utilization of funds well before the end of the financial year. The DDC particularly stressed on pacing up devel- opment works in the areas where the face was slow. He stated that clarification will be sought from the officers who shown dismal perform- ance in the utilization of funds. Among others present in the meeting were ADDC, Imam Din, CPO, Yasir L. A. DEO informed the representatives that District Contact Centre of Election Cell has been established where general masses can enquire on subjects such as elections, vot- ing dates, EPIC, electoral roll, online registration etc. and can also file their grievance by simply dialing toll-free number 1950. He asked the representatives of various political parties to employ their Booth Level Agents and endow with the list of same in Election Cell before 20th January in order to assist the BLOs, EROs and AEROs in preparing error-free electoral rolls as well as smooth conduct of the Special Summary Revision. Awareness on BBBP imparted STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Indian Army organised a lecture on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Harni in Poonch District with an aim to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. In all 137 students and 16 teachers attend- ed the lecture conducted by an Army officer. The event was organised to bring awareness amongst the members of society to include youth and school children, about importance of girl child and their education. The speaker highlighted the inequality, lack of opportunity and ill treatment of women in various parts of the country. The speaker also brought out the need to save the girl child as imbalance in the male to female ratio is causing problems in the society which need to be addressed on priority. The aware- ness drive was well received by the audience. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria on Friday chaired a meeting to take stock of arrangements being made for the celebration of Republic Day 2019 in the district. The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium Kathua and the day will start with playing of Shehnai Vaadan in the wee hours where the chief guest will unfurl the national flag and take salute at the march past to be presented by the contin- gents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, NCC and the school children. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: As part of the sustained efforts to empow- er the youth, Indian Army conducted a lecture on 'Career Guidance' for youth at Janwari of Ramban District. The aim of lecture was educating the youth about the large number of job opportunities available within the State and other parts of the country in both Government and private sectors. A total of 22 youth hailing from the remote areas of Gool region attended the lecture. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Urban Mulberryplantation was launched atKathua by SericultureDepartment from the DeputyCommissioner's Office here onFriday.

The programme was kickstarted jointly with planting ofMulberry Saplings byAdditional DistrictDevelopment Commissioner(ADDC), Kathua, Dr.Shubhra Sharma, andDirector Sericulture GulzarAhmad Shabnum in presenceof District Sericulture OfficerAnju Koul and Senior Officersof District Administration andSericulture Department.

The Additional DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,while appreciating the initia-tive of SericultureDepartment termed it as a

viable gesture to reshape theurban landscape and ensuresustainable healthy environ-ment. She said that concertedefforts to facilitate such pro-grammes shall have long last-ing effects on the conservationand beautification of citiesand towns.

Speaking on the occasion,Director Sericulture enumer-ated advantages of urbanMulberry plantation and saidthat 2000 highly improvedMulberry plants are targetedfor plantation within themunicipal limits of Kathua.He said that the Departmentis delivering Mulberry plantsat doorsteps of people free ofcost and extending all techni-cal assistance to the interestedpeople. He said that underurban Mulberry plantationinstitutions and other protect-ed establishments and vacantstate lands in Kathua townshall also be covered.

He appealed the urbanites toavail the benefits of this pro-gramme and associate withSericulture Department for aconscious role in beautifica-tion and maintenance ofhealthy environment in thecities and towns.

District Sericulture Officer,Kathua also spoke on theoccasion and enumerated var-ious facets of Urban Mulberryplantation. She said that allthe stake holders shall have towork together for betterupkeep and maintenance ofurban mulberry wealth andmotivate urban populace forventuring in profitable sericul-ture activities.

Later, a vehicle loaded withhighly improved MulberryPlants was flagged off by thedignitaries for free of cost dis-tribution of plants among thehouseholds, Institutions andGovt. Establishments withinKathua Town.

Handicraft Depttorganises awareness camp

STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: HandicraftDepartment on Friday organ-ized an awareness camp to sen-sitize the local stakeholdersabout central schemes launchedto boost handicraft sector.

Joint Director Handicraft,Jammu Anju Gupta was thechief guest who formally inau-gurated the camp.

A large number of villagersfrom Chak Rakhwalan,Malhar, Bakli, Tikri, NeeliNallaha, Ritti and Tabbri par-ticipated in the event.

While addressing the camp,the chief guest highlighted theschemes run by theDepartment. POONCH: Indian Army organised a lecture on Beti BachaoBeti Padhao (BBBP) at Government Girls Higher SecondarySchool, Harni in Poonch District with an aim to generateawareness and improving the efficiency of welfare servicesmeant for women. In all 137 students and 16 teachers attend-ed the lecture conducted by an Army officer.

The event was organised to bring awareness amongst themembers of society to include youth and school children,about importance of girl child and their education. Thespeaker highlighted the inequality, lack of opportunity and illtreatment of women in various parts of the country. Thespeaker also brought out the need to save the girl child asimbalance in the male to female ratio is causing problems inthe society which need to be addressed on priority.
