SPJIMR Business-Academia Conclave (SBAC) is a platform for fostering business-academia integration targeted exclusively at the corporate participants. Initiated in 2009, SBAC has been witnessing increasing participation from the industry in all the six conclaves – Finance, Marketing, Operations, Information Management, Consulting and HR conclave primarily featured through keynote addresses, panel discussions, seminars, symposia, case-study presentations by the corporate participants, etc.

SBAC 2014 promises to deliver a unique and enriching experience spread over two clusters on consecutive weekends—January 10-11, 2014 and January 17-18, 2014 at the SPJIMR Mumbai campus. Six of the most prominent, contemporary and relevant industry issues across different domains would be presented as themes in SBAC 2014.More than 40 prominent speakers from around the globe and 500+ corporate participants come together on this common platform. In the past, the conclave has been covered by various media partners like The Times Group, NDTV Profit, CNBC, and Business World in both television and print media.

It is a unique platform for the best minds of today and future leaders to converge and ignite ideas as well as solutions for several burning issues that organizations today are faced with. Thus, making for a perfect environment to invent, innovate and implement. It’s a four day event consisting of keynote addresses, panel discussions, debates, seminars, symposia and case presentations based on six of the most prominent, contemporary and relevant industry issues in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Operations, Information Management, Consulting and HR.

SBAC 2014…

A strategic confluence of Social, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud (SMAC) is revolutionizing the way business is done in today's world. Traditional business intelligence practices would not be able to keep pace with this massive growth in data volumes. It is a platform to such successful business transformations and an opportunity to drive the change and become a trendsetter using SMAC.

Theme: Enhancing Corporate Competitiveness through Excellence in

Logistics Companies are drawing up strategies to make the best use of existing infrastructure and to leverage their capabilities in business and warehousing areas to enhance competitiveness. We provide a platform for supply chain and logistics practitioners, researchers, consultants and academicians to share their insights of current practices and future challenges and new initiatives in line with this theme.

Theme: Business as HR Partner: Redefining the Relationship

The role of HR in an organization has undergone various changes since its inception. From providing protection and care in the 18th century, today they are considered the Strategic Business Partner. Envision shifting the onus to the Strategic Business Unit to extend help and co-operation to HR initiatives providing insights on the evolution of HR in modern day organizations.

Theme: Business Strategy in a digitized world: Riding the Third Wave

Dynamic technological advancement has set in motion a third wave of capitalism. This will lead to paradigm shifts in the global marketplace—from consumer behaviour to new business models. The extent of digitization and timing of such a transition are the pressing concerns for multinationals worldwide. How far is the global market willing and open to change?

Theme: Measuring Marketing Effectiveness

SPJIMR Marketing Impact Awards (SMIA) provides a platform to showcase the impact and effectiveness of marketing initiatives, with metrics of its impact on business. SMIA acts as a medium to present marketing initiative ,taken up to successfully solve a business problem or en-cash a market opportunity. SMIA is a recognized and well attended event in corporate circles.

Theme: Rethinking 'Financial Services' In A Changing Landscape

SPJIMR Financial Conclave is a platform that presents an exciting opportunity for different service providers of finance to come face to face with the consumers of their service and debate upon the huge gap that still exists between their offerings and requirements. Theme: India Next: Technology Transforming the 'Real' India

The future of businesses is moving towards the bottom of the pyramid. There is tremendous scope and opportunity for applying IT to spheres crucial to development, such as finance, healthcare and education. The 2013 Conclave provided an opportunity to the Thought Leaders and Industry Experts to share their views on these pressing issues.

Theme: Managing Risks and Sustaining High Performance in Supply Chain

The conclave was aimed at promoting and exchanging diverse views and ideas for the ever changing environment, new risks, growth opportunities and the necessity for effective and efficient management in the Supply Chain Industry.

Theme: Building Inclusive Workplaces by Harnessing Diversity

HR Conclave 2013 focussed on various aspects of diversity like androgyny in workplace, cultural and multi-generational diversity, rural-urban integration, socio-economic diversity, the role of differently-abled in an organization, and how each of these aspects contributes to building inclusive workplaces.

Theme: Sustainability - A Choice or a Business Imperative?

It is becoming increasingly apparent that investments in sustainable practices would be essential for the very survival of businesses. But how would it affect profitability? The consulting symposium at SPJIMR heard leading academicians, senior consultant and corporate leaders share their views and experience.

Theme: Making Marketing Accountable: Metrics for measuring Marketing

Effectiveness

Selected group of corporates were shortlisted and invited to present their marketing initiatives, undertaken either to solve a business problem or encash a market opportunity. Eminent jury judged these corporate contestants and the jury discussed the very essence of this theme.

Theme: Tapping the Business Potential in Financial Services in India

The panel provided an insightful exchange of ideas on future outlook and level of preparedness of financial services for being competitive in long run, on business opportunities, innovation, risk management practices, compliance and new reforms.
