HistoryThe College evolved following the amalgamation of Stella Maris Presentation College and St Patrick’s College in Geraldton in 1994. Nagle acknowledges the faith beliefs and traditions of both schools and seeks to develop the vision of their founders in a contemporary and modern Catholic setting.

Nano Nagle, from whom the College takes its name, founded the Presentation Sisters in Ireland in 1775. Their work was to offer the girls the education, formation and care which was at the time available only to those of the higher reaches of society. Inspired by their work, Edmund Rice founded the Christian Brothers in 1808. From the start, the Presentation Sisters and the Christian Brothers worked closely together in the country of their foundation.

The College crest is an ongoing reminder of both our ancestry and the continuing aspiration which embraces all who are connected with Nagle Catholic College.

BoardingOur boarding students are accommodated at the Geraldton Residential College, which is a short 10-minute walk from the Nagle campus. Students are provided with a ‘home away from home’, modern facilities, healthy ‘home-cooked’ meals and a safe, supervised and caring environment. In partnership with the Residential College, Nagle has permanently secured 45 beds at the facility.

Our Year 7 Director - Students, Mr Rohan Fariss, is our Boarding Liaison Officer. In this role, Mr Fariss keeps in regular contact with our boarders and their families. Once per fortnight, staff enjoy a dinner with the boarders to offer support and counsel as required.

College FacultyThe College Faculty is led by The Principal - Mr Robert CrothersVice Principal & Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning - Mrs Robyn Gummery Deputy Principal Faith and Life - Mr Daniel BowenDeputy Principal Students - Mrs Susan Seaward College Chaplain - Father Tai

Nagle Catholic College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school established in 1994 to serve the needs of families in the Mid-West region.

The College is well regarded within the community and this is reflected in the current enrolment of over twelve hundred students from Years 7 to 12.

Pastoral CareNagle’s holistic approach to education ensures that particular attention is paid to the ongoing development of young people. A variety of strategies ensure they remain happy and balanced in the way they view themselves and, the way they view others. In many cases, this focus is developed through an integrated approach with students on a daily basis in classes and other activities. On other occasions, specific activities and experiences are designed to meet the Pastoral needs of the students. Students are encouraged to live out the College motto, ‘For Others’. In Years 7 to 10, students participate in Christian Service Learning and our Year 11 students have the opportunity to volunteer abroad as part of our Christian Formation Program, ‘Endeavour’.Each student is assigned to a House within the College and is linked to a Home Room teacher whom she or he sees at the beginning of each day. A Director of Students takes primary responsibility for the social and academic needs of students in each year and they are often the first point of contact with students and parents. The College Chaplain provides staff and students with spiritual leadership. In addition, the College Counsellors are available to advise students who are experiencing difficulties or concerns in their academic, family or social life.

Students have ready access to advice regarding elective selection, work experience, career choices, pre-requisites for courses in Year 11 and 12, access to TAFE, university entry and the world of work.

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer takes particular interest in the pastoral care of our Aboriginal students and their families.

Learning SupportThe College provides within our educational setting, support for students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties. Our resources include a specialised room, The Hub, within the College allowing for students in need of Learning Support to access the resource according to their needs.

HousesThe six original College House names derive from the Bishops who served the people of the Geraldton Diocese. Two new Houses, commissioned in 2014, take their names from Stella Maris College and St Patrick’s College. The crests for the Houses are based on the symbols used on the Bishop’s crests and on traditional representations for Mary and for St Patrick.

Special Annual EventsSt Patrick’s Day GamesEach year the College holds games to commemorate St Patrick’s College and the Irish heritage of our founding orders, the Presentation Sisters and the Christian Brothers. Students compete in a test of strength, endurance and strategy for their Houses.

Rags to RichesThe Rags to Riches event commenced in 2004 and showcased a fashion parade of recycled clothed, in order to raise money for charity. Over time the show has grown to include all disciplines of the Arts at Nagle. Rags to Riches highlights the skill and creativity of Nagle’s Art students with fantastic Music, Dance and Drama performances complementing the Wearable Art Fashion Parade. Each year a substantial donation is given to the local St Vincent De Paul Society.

Student Enrolment

RATIONALE Nagle Catholic College exists to further the mission of the Church. Nagle Catholic College is privileged to play a part in the process, mandated by the Bishops of Western Australia, by which the Catholic Education Commission makes Catholic school education available to all Catholic children as far as this is possible.

PRINCIPLES 1. Nagle Catholic College recognises the uniqueness of each student.2. Nagle Catholic College has a preferential option for the poor and marginalised.3. Nagle Catholic College fulfils its mission in partnership with parents/guardians, who are the first educators of their children.4. Nagle Catholic College has a responsibility to fulfil the requirements of relevant Federal, State and Local Government laws and regulations.5. Nagle Catholic College shall accept all applications for enrolment.6. The acceptance of an application form does not guarantee an enrolment interview or offer of enrolment.7. Enrolment at Nagle Catholic College shall be offered only where the school has age-appropriate accommodation and the requisite resources to respond to any specific needs of the students.8. Enrolment at Nagle Catholic College does not guarantee enrolment at any other Catholic school.

PROCEDURES 1. Priority in offering places at the College is as follows: 1.1 Catholic students from Catholic schools with a Parish Priest’s reference;1.2 Catholic students from non-Catholic schools with a Parish Priest’s reference;1.3 Other Catholic students from Catholic schools;1.4 Other Catholic students from non-Catholic schools;1.5 Siblings of non-Catholic students;1.6 Non-Catholic students from Catholic schools;1.7 Non-Catholic students from other Christian denominations;1.8 Other non-Catholic students. In exceptional circumstances the Principal may vary the above priorities to suit particular local circumstances prevailing at the time.2. Application is made on the Application for Admission form, which is sent to the College with an application fee of $55, a photocopy of the student's Baptism Certificate, Birth Certificate and a copy of the most recent school report and NAPLAN report. If a child's application is unsuccessful and parents/guardians wish to remove their child's name from the waiting list, 50% of the application fee will be refunded, upon request.3. The College will confirm with parents/guardians receipt of Application for Enrolment. This acknowledgement is not an indication that the application has been successful.4. Parents/Guardians to whom a place may be offered, will be asked to attend an interview. 5. Parents/Guardians will be advised of the outcome of their application as soon as possible following the interview.6. Parents/Guardians are advised that the boarding fee is an annual fee. Though students in Year 11 and Year 12 finish school earlier in Term 4, there will be no refund of fees. If at some later date a parent/guardian chooses to remove a child from the Residential College, then they are advised that the child's place at the College is not guaranteed. Parents/Guardians are liable for all commission and recovery costs if their school fees account is placed with a Debt Collection Agency. The Fee Schedule and payment policies are included in the College Prospectus.7. The withholding of information relevant to the interview process, especially in relation to the student's needs, medical condition, health care requirements and/or parenting orders, constitute a breach of enrolment and the enrolment may be refused or terminated on these ground.8. When accepting a place at the College, the potential student and parents/guardians accept the obligation that the student will abide by the College rules and standards of conduct and behaviour.9. In accepting a place for their child at Nagle Catholic College, parents/guardians undertake to be supportive of the aims and programs of the College, and to participate in the functions organised from time to time for the full College community.10. All students are required to complete the College's Christian Service Learning Program.11. It is a College expectation that all students (including VET, WPL and PAiS students) attend significant College events that fall on VET days. Such events include but are not limited to Retreats, Founders’ Day Mass and the Interhouse Athletics Carnival.
