WHAT IS THE CTO

• The CTO was developed to support the CNP’s Continuum of Service (CoS).

• Providing Sailors a seamless transition between Active and Reserve Components (AC/RC)

• Aand encouraging a lifetime of service.

GOALS OF THE CTO

• The overall goals of CTO are to: • Educate Sailors about the benefits of reserve

affiliation• Facilitate a smooth streamlined transition

between AC and RC through centralized processing

• Decrease transition processing times and reduce potential pay interruptions.

• 72 hour transitions between components

GOALS OF THE CTO

A Transition Assistant (TA) works directly with aservice member to:• facilitate the transition process • prepare all documents as applicable for

transition and • address all inquiries regarding NAVRES prgms.• Officer Transition Assistants (OTA) transition

officers .• Enlisted Transition Assistants (ETA) transition

enlisted personnel.

Benefits

• Unemployement Compensation• Members returning from active duty may be

• In addition, Navy Reservists are entitled to many of the same benefits they received while serving in the AC.

MOBILIZATION DEFERMENT

• Upon affiliation with the RC, NAVETs are allowed a mobilization deferment to avoid back-to-back deployments or mobilizations in order to establish themselves in their community and new civilian job without having to deploy. NAVADMIN 07007

MOBILIZATION DEFERMENT

• NAVETs who affilite with the Navy Reserve:• Within 6 months of release from AD, NAVETs

receive a 2 year "involuntary" mobilization deferment

• Within 7-12 months of release from AD, NAVETs receive a 1 year "involuntary" mobilization deferment

• Member may "volunteer" for deployement at any time during the mobilization deferment.

Reserve Retirement

• • Reservists will become eligible for retirement pay

at age 60 (or earlier based upon current policy), following 20 years of qualifying service (AC and RC, or RC alone). Retirement benefit amounts vary, depending on individual pay grades and total of AC and RC time. An optional Survivors' Benefit Plan will provide an annuity to eligible beneficiaries. Reserve Retirement

• Retirement Calculator - Active Duty and Reserve

• The retirement calculator forecasts non-disability military retirement income based on your career details and variable economic factors. This planning tool is intended for members who are currently serving and are not yet retired.

Health and Dental Insurance

• Health and Dental Insurance• Reservists are eligible for

Tricare Reserve Select benefits. Tricare Reserve Select brings together health resources of the armed forces and supplements them with civilian resources to complete your health care coverage. During training periods, you may use military facilities in the event of injury or illness.

Health and Dental Insurance

• Direct Transition between the AC and RC, with no delay or break in service, makes you eligible for TAMP (TA-180) medical coverage. This coverage allows you to continue the same coverage with the same deductibles/co-pays that you had on Active Duty with no additional premiums for a period of six months.

Life Insurance

• Reservists are eligible for up to $400,000 of full-time coverage under the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) plan. Dependents are also eligible for coverage of up to $100,000 for a spouse and $10,000 for each dependent child.

Reemployment Rights

• As a Navy Reservist, your civilian job security is assured. Reservists are protected under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).

Education

• Educational opportunities abound while you serve in the RC. Whether you are looking for additional military training, seeking to earn an advanced degree, or simply want improve your skill sets, the Navy Reserve has an educational program for you. As a member of the RC, you can attend a variety of Navy schools on Annual Training, complete correspondence courses, and enroll in a number of educational programs.
