Reiki Symbols and Innovative Ways to Use Them

Reiki symbols are basically Sanskrit derived Japanese forms that helps improve the flow of Life Force

Energy. These symbols are an essential part of Reiki practice and they used to be secret and revealed

only to Reiki students who are initiated into the advance or master level. However, with the technology

available today it’s hard to keep anything secret :), so information about them can easily be found on

the internet.

Although these symbols do not have any special power in of themselves, using these them after

attunement helps a practitioner focus the Reiki energies. There are primarily three symbols used in

traditional Reiki. They are Cho ku Rei or the Reiki Power Symbol, Sei He Ki or the Emotional or Mental

Healing Symbol, and Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen or the Distance Healing Symbol.

This book contains two parts. Part 1 presents the symbols and some ways to use them individually. Part

2 contains some innovative ways to use the symbols together to manage some day to day situations.



Part 1: The Symbols

Meaning of Cho Ku Rei or The Reiki Power Symbol Cho Ku Rei which is considered one of the first symbols used in Usui Reiki essentially means “Placing all

the powers of the universe here”. The Reiki power symbol basically works like a “switch” that helps to

instantly increase Reiki practitioner’s ability to channel the energies. The main purpose of using it is to

enhance the power of Reiki and draw the energy around and concentrate it on the required purpose.

The power symbol looks like a coil, and it is meant to not only increase and decrease the flow of

energies, but also aids in modifying the flow of “ki” energies to a great extent. The Cho Ku Rei can be

drawn in both counter and spiral clockwise directions. Some Reiki masters draw it counter clockwise

when applied in areas or places where there is excess energy, and clockwise in areas where there is

deficient energy or used during a Reiki session in a person who tends to lack energy.

How to Use the Reiki Power Symbol

The Reiki power symbol is used primarily to connect with Reiki energy at the start of a session and also

to help boost the Reiki power whenever it is required during a session. Reiki practitioners have their

own preference about using the Cho Ku Rei symbol. As an example a healer might draw or visualizes the

symbol in front of them and repeat the mantra “Cho ku Rei” three times.

Using this power symbol on the palms of the hand and on each chakra helps to clear channels and

empowers a practitioner’s hands before giving a Reiki treatment. Similarly, while using the power

symbol over the crown of the clients head helps create positive energy around him, using Cho Ku Rei

over the client’s lower back and behind his heart helps seal the energy in at the end of the treatment.

Although Cho Ku Rei can be used anytime during a Reiki session, it proves to be especially effective

when it is used in the start (to increase Reiki energy) or at the end (to close a treatment and seal the

Reiki energies).

protection and balancing. This symbol is known as the Mental and Emotional Healing Symbol, but it

1. Activate the power symbol by drawing and repeating the name Cho Ku Rei thrice.

2. Draw and repeat the name of the Reiki distance healing symbol thrice mentally. Seal it with the

power symbol.

3. Write the name of the recipient in a piece of paper and hold the paper in between your hands.

4. Draw the symbol Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen in the air above the paper. Repeat the mantra thrice.

5. Repeat the name of the recipient thrice and their location once.Draw the power symbol and

repeat the mantra thrice.

6. Allow Reiki to flow (for three to five minutes) to the recipient for the greatest and highest good.

7. Finish the Reiki session by either clapping your hands or shaking them vigorously in order to cut

the connection.

An alternative way of distant healing is to either use their photograph or use a proxy ( a soft toy or any

object) instead of writing their name on a piece of paper.

5 Steps to Find Lost Objects Using Reiki You can use Reiki for finding lost objects. Here’s how to do it.

Instructions

1. Write down the name or description of the lost object on a piece of white paper.

2. Draw the distance treatment symbol on the paper once and repeat the name of the symbol

thrice mentally.

3. Repeat three times the name or description of the object and ask the Reiki symbol to help you

to lead to the object.

4. Now, draw the mental healing symbol and repeat the name of this symbol thrice. Seal

everything with the power symbol.

5. Put the piece of paper in a safe place and return to normal life.

In the course of the day you will either find the lost object or just remember where the lost object is. Of

course, if it serves your highest good, that is :-).

Instructions

1. Repeat the name of the distance healing symbol thrice after drawing it mentally.

2. First say your name and then say – please wake me up at – the required time- feeling energetic

and refreshed.

3. Now, mentally draw the mental healing symbol and repeat them name of the symbol thrice.

4. Seal everything by drawing the power symbol in your mind and repeating the name of this

symbol thrice.

This Reiki technique which takes about three to five minutes to be completed can help you wake up in

the morning at a specific time without having to use an alarm clock.

Looking for Parking Space with Reiki This Reiki technique which takes about two minutes should be used before you start driving to a

particular destination. Using this technique will help you find a parking space easily.

Instructions

1. Relax completely before drawing the power symbol. Repeat the name of the symbol thrice.

2. Now, draw the distance healing symbol mentally. Repeat the name of the symbol three times.

3. Repeat the words “I will find a good parking space in – a particular location” three times.

4. Seal it by drawing the power symbol mentally and repeating the name of this symbol thrice.

2. Describe or name the particular situation you want to provide Reiki three times. Say- I want to

give Reiki to this situation -try to specify the day( date, month and year) and the approximate

time duration of that situation.

3. Draw the mental healing symbol once and repeat the name of this symbol thrice mentally. Send

it to the situation.

4. Seal everything by drawing and repeating the name of the power symbol thrice.

Keep in mind that treating other people involved in a situation requires you have the recipient’s

permission; send the energy only to yourself when treating a future situation using this Reiki technique.
