Cost saving through long tool lifeThe closing head is partially formed inaccordance with the tool motion.Compared with other methods, thisrequires considerably less rivetingforce for a very high deformationrate. The low specific loading con-serves the tool and prolongs its life.
Excellent surface structure of theclosing headWith the Radial riveting process, thetool does not itself rotate. The frictionbetween tool and workpiece is thus ata minimum. The result is an excellentsurface structure.
Low workpiece loadingEven bakelite or ceramic parts can beriveted. Lateral forces are negligible.Clamping is usually unnecessary.
Perfect closing head formationPerfect closing head formation may beobtained with materials that werepreviously considered to be non-rive-table. Torsional stress is prevented bythe superimposed radial flow directionof the material.The results are outstanding surfacequality of the closing head and veryhigh fatigue strength.
The rose-petal principleThe Baltec Radial riveting process isconsidered to be the most modernriveting principle worldwide.Wherever high-quality joints are de-manded, there is no comparableprocess today. Even joints that werepreviously possible only with othertechniques can now be made by radialriveting.
The latest technology for the most exacting requirements
The tool describes a rose-petal path(hypocycloid) causing gentle, efficientdeformation. With relatively littleaxial force, the yielding point of therivet material is reached over thesmall contact area between the punchand the rivet.With the hypocycloid path, the ma-terial flows predominantly in the ra-dial direction.This principle gives the Baltec Radialriveting process its name.

Material is deformed by every riveting process; this shouldtake place, however, without influencing the strength cha-racteristics. The new form of motion of the rivet set ensuresperfect material deformation without perceptible structuralmodification of the rivets.

The right solution for every application area
Towing lever
Cam roller with needle bearings; hardened needle bearingaxle fixed in precision-cast lever body with positive fit.Without deformation of the lever body. Double rivetingsimultaneously from both sides.
Transmitter plate riveted to the rotor by reshaping the fourplastic studs (ABS material).
Plastic ignition distributor
Sealing piston riveted. Possible even with large tube cross-section and wall strenght without flattening. The tuberemains perfectly cylindrical.
Pneumatic spring tube
Previously the bearing was fixed using traditional methodswith circlips. Radial riveting means that the groove, circlipand the costly assembly are eliminated.
Steering pinion; automotive industry
Three rivet joints through sprues on the ribs. Simultaneousriveting of all joints with a multiple riveting head.
Zinc die-castings
High torque is required. Square section shaft was previouslywelded in. As the male die does not turn with radial riveting,the square section can be riveted without problems. No ex-posure to heat, no spatter and a 100% safe join. Previouslyelectroplated parts can be riveted without problems.

Baltec Radial RNE riveting units areavailable for all applications to theappropriate specification. The optimumrange of sizes enables their rivetingperformance to be fully exploited.
All riveting units may be installed inspecial machines, rotary indexingtables or transfer installations – in anydesired orientation.
The riveting force is generatedhydraulically or pneumatically, depen-ding on the model.

BalTec Radial riveting machines with MRX multiple riveting head
With the multiple riveting head MRX,you can carry out several riveting ope-rations simultaneously within a certainarea. The riveting positions may lie atdifferent heights.
The tool describe the same BaltecRadial motion as with a single-headmachine.
May be equipped with holding-downdevice.
The number and configuration of rive-ting positions can be changed by theinterchange of two components (bea-ring and guide plates).
