QUESTION FOURHOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES

IN THE CONSTRUCTION, RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

Page 2: Question Four

The world wide web is easily the fastest way for anyone to find out information. Therefore we used this heavily in the initial stages of our research and planning because everything we needed would be on websites and blogs.

Google is the biggest search engine on the internet and all we needed to do was type in what we needed to find out about indie genres and we were given links, facts and images instantly.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE RESEARCH

We used a modern way of collating all our research, analysis and development. We created a blog so each member of the group could upload their individual research in a chronological order.

We used Microsoft Word when completing any long written tasks, this also allows you to spell check your work and view the document before you chop it up and upload it to the blog.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE RESEARCH

Slide share

Slide share allows you to upload your PowerPoint presentation on the internet so you can share and interact it with other people. We used slide share so we could embed our PowerPoint presentations onto our blog to show that we had analysed brand image, and to develop our understanding of interacting analysis and research in a reference to new media technologies.

YouTube allows people from all around the world to watch videos that are uploaded to the website.

This is something that artists use massively within the marketing of their product with music videos.

We therefore used YouTube to watch and analyse indie music videos. We researched for songs choices, brand image and styles of video.

CAMERA: The camera we used to fi lm the footage for our video was a Nikon D90. We have chosen to fi lm our footage with a 720p camera, which is almost HD. We decided to use this camera rather than a lower quality one so we can capture everything to the best quality possible and to make our video look more realistic. We also used diff erent types of lenses to create diff erent eff ects with our camera, such as out fish eye lens which is pictured below along side the standard lens.

EDITING. We used a program called Final Cut to edit the sequence and put scenes together to create a video with the music in the background. Final Cut was the main piece of equipment for the main task. This enabled us to add eff ects and change the speed and order of clips and many other techniques to create our independent music video.

We all completed a training program in Final Cut which enabled us to learn the basics of this program including how to cut shots, overlap and include transition features.

PHOTOSHOP: We used Photoshop to design the logo for our artist, we also used it to design our adverts and digipack alongside the music video. Again we have completed a training program that taught us how to work the basics of the Photoshop program to suit our projects needs e.g. cutting, colour changes, layering and changing opacity levels to make our advert and images look more unique and artistic which links to the genre of our music.

Audience Feedback.

As I wanted to collate the feedback from the audience questionnaire I created graphs to show the diff erences within their views.

I created two PowerPoint presentations to show the results for both products as I believed this was the best way to show the results in an easy to read format.

Alongside the questionnaires we recorded verbal feedback from a small group of students who are in our A2 Media Studies class. We fi lmed this on a started HD video camera and edited it in Final Cut to chop down and just use the necessary feedback

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE EVALUATION

Page 10: Question Four

The evaluation has four questions and instead of typing out an essay format version, it was vital that I used media technology.

I taught myself how to used Prezi, this is a zooming presentation program, you can be as free and creative when creating your presentation.

As question one was quite lengthy, I spent a while creating a Prezi. Before I did this this, I scripted my answers on a Microsoft Word document and then transferred the text, images, PowerPoint presntations and screen shots into my zooming presentation.
