What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 2: Question 3

Throughout the process of making my video i had made sure that i have done everything that my audience wanted and was expecting. When i think of a memorable music video personally i always think Beyoncé so with her releasing her album i found a good up beat song and could already picture how i wanted to be. I had two other songs in mind which was a lot more slow tempo, one was a Coldplay song and the other was a rihanna song, i played all 3 to my audience and explained how i am imagining things and they all picked the Beyoncé song – End Of Time because they said my ideas of dance routines and how I'd have the artist sounded really good and would fit in the song and its what they expected. But to go ahead with this I played it to some more of the audience that its aimed towards and give them this questionnaire so i can get an idea of what the expect in this type of music video to help me get a clear idea:

After i got the results from this I could start to plan out some ideas for my video and keep checking back to see if it fit with these results in mind so it was perfect for my audience.

Page 3: Question 3

To gain some more research and to be perfectly clear that i had got everything right so i can start filming, i created a mood board and then showed it to some of the audience i had previously asked before, they said that everything on there would suit the video therefore i knew i had got my target audience under wraps and i could start to go ahead and plan to film. As part of my research of Beyoncé she doesn’t really have storylines in every music video, this is an extra question i asked them when i was with my target audience and they couldn’t really see what storyline i could do to fit in that would go with everything i had planned to costume etc. Therefore, they helped me make that decision too.

I then took that information and started to lay my ideas down, I did a lot of background research on Beyoncé’s videos and picked out the conventions that she uses the most such as quick choppy cuts in an up tempo song that is bang on to every beat, and when its a slow tempo song all the cuts are very slow and use fade and she always looks into the camera and flirts with it. I also noticed she does a lot of dance routines and always wears glamorous outfits. All of this of my research fit in with my audience feedback of what they like about Beyoncé videos and what they expect mine to be like which was a big help as i had more of an idea what to do next.

Page 4: Question 3

The next step I made after that was filming my music video, I got most of it done and just needed to film the slower pase bit however I wanted to make a start on my digi-pack and webpage but i knew i had to ask my audience what house-style they expect so i could get my brand identity and also a name for my artist. I was in a class full of Year 11 media where most of them are my targeted audience and I asked them if they would all watch my music video what i have produced so far and give me some feedback from the questions i asked. I played them my video and then showed them an example of Coldplay's Album and Webpage to show how it all merged together to create a brand identity so they could understand a bit more what i am asking, i then gave them this questionnaire:

Unfortunately, they didn’t get chance to answer all the questions, but I gathered enough information to see the house-style they expected ‘pink and black’ and that Brielle is the better name for my artist in a big classy font like so - ‘BRIELLE’. I also got a lot of good feedback about my video from them before they left, the people who told me this was mainly my target audience – they said that it looks like a conventional music video and they can tell where my inspiration has come from. This made me very confident with my video as I knew I had my target audience hooked, I just needed to film the last bit and get my webpage and digi-pack to match what they are expecting.

Page 5: Question 3

After the last audience research i did i created my digi-pack and i was then still in process of creating my webpage, i asked a few members of my audience about if the website i am in the process of making is what they would expect as my audience and after seeing the music video i created. They said that it is what they would expect too see as it's minimal and looks sharp, classy & clean. Which is also what i was aiming for. And with this in mind it is what i did and created..

Page 6: Question 3

The last thing i asked the audience is when i completely finished everything and asked them to watch my video and then complete the survey about it on the online survey making webpage surveymonkey.com - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5FY7V96 i asked them all the questions to do with my music video after gathering some of my target audience and showing them it.

I then asked them to fill that in online, i then gave them a print feedback sheet to say about my digi-pack and webpage just a couple of questions too see if they thought that it all fit in together.

Digipack & Webpage.

1. Do you think my digipack and webpage all fit together with the video as one whole brand identity?

The Feedback from Final Questionnaires.

I asked the online survey to rate me out of 5.

-Everyone who did the survey online rated it on enjoyment of 5/5 which is brilliant to know that my audience enjoy the music video and that all of the hard work has paid off.

-The scores i got back for if the video fitting in with the song and the genre was mainly all 5/5 and i had 2 people say 4/5, this is also excellent feedback as most of them believe my music video housestyle fits in perfectly with the song which means that all the audience research i did has worked.

- The scores for the lighting were mainly 4/5 and only a couple 3/5, i believe this is perfectly understandable as some of the places where i filmed were dull and there was no chance of getting it to the standard I wanted, it was very poor and the cameras we used didn’t give it any justice. However when i filmed inside the drama studio and hall and had the lights i believed this worked and thats the reasons why i have 4’s.

- The feedback i got for my camera skills was also mainly 4/5 with a couple of 5/5s and only one person said 3/5. I was very pleased with this as i knew my camera angles where steady and i made sure that everyone was perfect with no wobbles.

-The feedback i got from my editing skills was mainly all 4/5 and 3 said 5/5. this is also great feedback as i found the editing process very difficult compared to the rest and i wanted everything to be bang on the beat and not a the tiniest bit out of sync. This took the most amount of time and perseverance and looking at my feedback it all paid off.

The Feedback from Final Questionnaires – Continued

- the scores i received back from the costume and make-up control was all 5/5. I am so pleased with this feedback as i really studied hard to get the perfect costumes and made sure that everything was how i imagined and how my audience imagined, keeping the element of Beyoncé’s glam and the mood board worked.

- Most people described my video in one word as ‘bubbly’ and ‘flirtatious’ (two top ones) other people said ‘happy’ ‘fun’ ‘enjoyable’ ‘Beyoncé like’ which is all very good feedback as these are the moods i wanted to get across to my audience.

- Out of the multiple choice of which my artist was most like they all chose ‘Beyoncé’ this is good feedback as it shows that i have studied my inspiration enough to make it one of my own and the audience feedback has helped me to develop them ideas of Beyoncé favourite conventions even further.

- Everyone who did the questionnaire also said that ‘Yes’ my video would fit in with the media/market of music videos today. This means i have competed the task of creating a new modern, upbeat music video that makes me feel more of a media producer then part of Beyoncés audience.

Digipack and Webpage.- After seeing my video everyone on print agreed that my webpage and digi-pack fit in as one big brand identity as i have used the same colours and same funkiness and edginess that my video gives.

- They also all agreed that it looks like a webpage and digi-pack of today and it would look good on the shelf and stand out. They also said that the price of £6.99 is a good price as them as my target audience would pay that.

-Finally, the only thing that they said i could of done differently so it all would fit in together that little bit more is make the website that little bit more glam and edgy by maybe adding the outdoor location on there to promote the album a bit more. I have taken this feedback into consideration and completely agree.

Page 9: Question 3

My final opinion on the Audience Feedback On a whole, from this feedback that i have gathered throughout the process of making my video and the other texts, i think it has been a success. I have gained more high scores on my questionnaire then i could of every imagined and the response i got from my audience is the best feeling ever to know that your work has made them happy. I am happy with my overall finished and final texts – my video, digipack and webpage. However, if i could do it a again i would maybe make some slight changes, for example i would change where i had my dancers as the boards would not come together and there was a slight gap in the middle which really annoys me. Also if we had more time and better equipment i would make my video more dramatic, maybe using a green screen to create different locations and better effects like when she blows a kiss to actually have a kiss mark on the screen and then fads off. However, because we didnt have that i believe my video is the best it can possibly be.
