-Intermedia Partners are a private investment firm which a dedication to the media sector. The company funds for businesses belonging to the media industry. -One of their many partly owned firms, include Hiphop music magazine, VIBE. Intermedia Partners purchased VIBE which enabled them to restore their magazine after the shut down of production the year before. I used and developed conventions of VIBE magazine in my magazine during research and planning and therefore was inspired by the distribution and ownership factors of the magazine.

Vibe is a magazine dedicated to the Hiphop scene of music and culture and is distributed quarterly by Vibe Lifestyle Network. I was influenced by VIBE magazine and its owners and distributers as I am following the same genre in my music magazine. I found out they owned and are funded by Intermedia Partners but are distributed by their very own network which is presented online at www.vibelifestylenetwork.com . I was inspired by the use of their distributors as I admired how even though the company was funded and owned by another firm their distributors are in the scene of Hiphop keeping to conventions which follow the genre.

I found the quote below on their website which is provided to define what the company is dedicated too: “VIBE chronicles the celebrities, sounds, fashion, lifestyle, new media, and business born from Hiphop music. As an authoritative voice, VIBE creates trends as much as it records them. It covers music, educates its readers, and gives back to the community. VIBE serves as a portal to a growing young, trendsetting, multicultural audience. As excellent journalists and innovative marketers, VIBE is the voice of urban music and culture. VIBE provides a democratic digital experience where users are encouraged to provide content. At VIBE print and online will seamlessly relate.”

-The quote on the previous slide is what initially inspired me to want my own magazine to be distributed by the company. They have a complete dedication to the scene of Hiphop, not only the music but the culture which would ultimately offer extra for my consumers. -Through research I discovered that the company not only represents VIBE magazine but it is partners with other magazines too e.g. www.clutchmagonline.com www.Allmusic.com. This allowed me to want to become a partner with the network so ‘SUPERIOR’ would be promoted on their website as well as distributed by them. I would be benefitted by belonging to this network as it would allow my magazine to be promoted on a website with over 15million users, increasing potential consumers.

Below is an image which I found on Vibe lifestyle network’s homepage of Nicki Minaj. As seen in my research she was the main inspiration I used in the creation of my artist Tyra. Knowing that they include similar artists in the same genre as my magazine is another benefit as we would be able to double each others customers as they would find some familiarity in mine they would in VIBE.

Factors such as audience and the number of users of Vibe lifestyle network will benefit my magazine significantly. The audience age range includes the audience age range for my magazine; 77.1% of consumers being 21+. This would allow my magazine to reach its target audience effectively as the promotion and awareness levels would rise significantly as it would be located on a website with over 15 million users.
