The facility includes:
A spacious dining hall / multi-purpose room
Pt. Fermin Outdoor Education Center
Fingerprinted and cleared by the FBI & Department of Justice
Trained in First Aid and CPR

Supplied with 2 way radios
All center staff are:
Only LAUSD personnel and District-approved individuals are permitted on site
Students are supervised 24/7 by center personnel and/or classroom teachers
All activities are pre-approved by the LAUSD Office of Outdoor and Environmental Education
Pt. Fermin Outdoor Education Center
Students will engage in the science inquiry process aboard a sailing vessel in and around the Port of Los Angeles
Students build confidence and achieve a sense of accomplishment as they assume the role of the crew and sail the vessel.
Science at Sea Tall Ships Program
Students will explore some of the challenges that currently affect the health of our oceans.
Students will assume the role of marine scientists, navigators, meteorologists, and engineers.

Point Fermin Outdoor School is working in collaboration with both MESA and The Los Angeles Maritime Institute to bring this
innovative program to your school.
We will collect phones and media players upon arrival, and return them before departure
All medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) require LAUSD release forms signed by a doctor and a parent. Please do not send medications unless absolutely necessary. All medications should be given to the teacher prior to boarding the bus for Pt. Fermin.
Food Services can only prepare meals for special dietary needs with prior notification
Additional Considerations
We will spend a considerable part of Saturday off-site, and again for a shorter period on Sunday
Saturday we will take a school bus to Ports-o-Call to board tall sailing vessels for a multi-hour sailing and research expedition.
