What is the Preliminary Practicum?

• AKA Pre-Prac• A 1 credit, 7 week required pre-

requisite course to the Basic Practicum at Croyden Avenue School

• A course designed to train skills in Discrete Trial Training and to make students feel more comfortable before working at Croyden Avenue School

Why Take Pre-Prac?• To gain the necessary training before

taking the Basic Practicum• To receive individualized training • To be given one-on-one feedback• To visit the practicum site (Croyden

Avenue School) before taking the Basic Practicum

• Because it is a REQUIRED course to the Basic Practicum

What Will We Do in Class• Learn about – The Practicum Site’s curriculum and

classroom procedures– Detailed info on Discrete Trial Training

• We Will– Observe current practicum students at

Croyden Avenue School– Role play common scenarios encountered

at Croyden• AND work with some of the children at

Croyden!

Seminar Times • Seminars will take place on

Wednesdays OR Thursdays from 6-7:30 P.M. beginning March 8, 2010

• Wednesday seminars will be in 2902 Wood Hall.

• Thursday seminars will be in 2908 Wood Hall.

• If you are interested in taking the Basic Practicum course next semester you need to either–Register for Pre-Prac for this semester OR– Just show up to the Pre-Prac class on the

first day• The instructors will register you for the class

on the first day

• If you are not planning on taking the Basic Practicum until the Spring, wait and take Pre-Prac in the Fall semester
