Prowess is the most comprehensive database of over 25,000 companies. It provides detailed information culled from Audited Financial Reports, Stock Exchanges and other related sources.

The left bar indicates an independent ‘Query module’ which includes the detailed Profit & loss account and Balance sheet statements,ratios,fund flow statements,half yearly results,products & plants,raw materials,history of capital changes,bonus &dividends,stock prices,etc

Company Information.Allows to understand a company’s performance over a time series basis and identify companies which are grouped under

one industry.

This option allows you to search for companies based on company name/alias,  BSE code, BSE alias or NSE codes.

The results of the Query executions and Chart creations are displayed in this window. The Output Sheets window can hold multiple sheets each displayed with a different sheet number.

I. To search for ACC,enter the name in the search box labeled "Start Typing Company Name for Auto Search". This will display all company names starting with “ACC" in the matching companies list.

II. Select the company by double clicking.

III. The name appears on the right –side under, ”Selected Company Names”

IV. Use the execute command ’New/Add’ to take the names to a new/existing output sheet.

The company name whose report is to be viewed can be selected from Company Output Sheet.

Click on the Reports View tool button from the Launcher Toolbar As a result, a Report Viewer window will be displayed.

The Company reports gives a snapshot of the entire company.It has a [+] tree structure which accounts for detailed reports.

One can browse through the various reports,by clicking on the respective report.

1. Select the required information by check marking against the desired name.

2. For example : One can identify, under which industry the company is classified by marking on the field name ’Industry Name’.

3. Use the execute command ’AddCol’ to add the selected information to the current  output sheet

After identifying under which industry the company is grouped,one can locate its peer group companies.

Click on Company Classification query in the Select Company query group.The CMIE Sets and User Sets are displayed in the Query display area.

Select the required sets by check marking the empty box against the set name :’Cement’. Select Show Companies option by using the right click on a set to view its contents.

Use the execute command ‘New’ to create a new output sheet.

The output sheet displays the names of all the cement companies in the Cement industry.

One can have multiple output sheet.

Audited Financial Results:

1. Click on Audited Financial Results query in query by finance/stocks group.

2. One can select multiple indicators from the Select indicators list by marking a check box either under the ‘S’- S-Standalone numbers.Or/and ’C’- Consolidated numbers .For eg: Sales,PAT,etc

3. The Query on Year allows you to enter the year/date for the conditions specified in the query i.e the conditions given the query are applicable to the year/date entered in the Query on Year.The date can be entered in the following format Ddmmyy:17/06/2008 OR yymm: 200703

One can arrange the results either selecting the ascending/descending option from the Sort Rows

OR

Sort Columns tool buttons by highlighting the entire column.

For eg: Descending order in terms of Sales.

One can obtain the top ten cement

companies as per their sales.Delete the balance companies by right clicking and using the option ‘Delete Row’.

The filtered names of companies can be saved as a user set.

User Sets are created (and maintained) by the user. They are distinct from the CMIE Sets which are created and maintained by CMIE.

PERFORM AGGREGATESAllows one to perform peer group comparision and

understand the industry on an aggregate basis.

Viewing/loading the User Sets:

Click on the Perform Aggregates option in the Query window to access User Sets. On doing so, Prowess  displays two lists -- one of CMIE Sets and another of User Sets.

Click on the Refresh button.The User Sets section displays the list of User Sets created and saved.

Check mark one or more sets that you wish to use.

Since we are looking for Aggregate numbers,one should select the ‘Aggregate Reports’.If One clicks on Company Reports the screen will be blank as shown above.

Corporate Comparison displays the individual companies data (as shown by the arrow) & the aggregate total for the set (as shown by the blue box).

The aggregate values for the set(Cement top ten) are displayed in the above report.

CMIE articles.

To view news relating to a company,select the company name and right click.

The option displays:

1.BSE/NSE Announcements

2.CMIE Articles

EXECUTE COMMANDS:

New : Creates a new output sheet with required list of companies.(For eg Refer to Slide No.6)

Add: Adds the companies to the current/existing output sheet.

AdCol: Adds the selected information to the current output sheet for companies which match the

given criteria.In case the criteria does not match,it does not without remove any company from

the sheet.(Refer to Slide No:12,16)

Replace :Click on this button to replace the contents of the current output sheet in the Output Sheets

Window, with the results of this query.

OR : Click on this button to add the results of this query to the current output sheet in the Output

Sheets Window

And : This command keeps only those companies from the current output sheet which match

the results of this query.

Not: This command removes only those companies from the output sheet which do not

match the results of the query.
