On behalf of PoliMedia’s civitas academica I mostly welcome you to our creative campus with natural learning environment, comfortable, as well as supported by appropriate and sophisticated facilities. PoliMedia is proud of his existing on the right time when the creative societies start growing as a creative economic stimulator which assured to contribute our efforts to encourage the Indonesia’s economic growth. PoliMedia is provided to educate and train creative talented entrepreneurs in order to be developed as an innovative and creative as well as skillful approached to fulfil the needs of future creative industry.

The government revitalization policy for The Indonesian Centre for The Graphic Arts (Pusgrafin) to be The State Polytechnic of Creative Media (PoliMedia) is the way to respond the message of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Creative Exhibition JCC, June 4th, 2008 “... We now must look at the creative and cultural industry as the way to our economic future”. The speech quotation implies that creative industry based on creativities and culture needs to be systematically formulated into the government policy both from industrial aspects and human resource.

The establishment of PoliMedia is to support the speed growth of various creative industries in Indonesia included Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, Publishing, Advertising, Film/Video, Animation, Fashion and the others. PoliMedia (previously called Pusat Grafika Indonesia) has its long reputation in the development and supervision of National Publishing and Graphic Arts industries. Since the first year establishment of Pusgrafin in 1969 until it changed to be PoliMedia in 2008, has held a number of training programmes in the field of graphic arts with the participants derived from the government, educational institution, and industry of Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, and Publishing in Indonesia.

The existing of PoliMedia (Decree of Education Ministry, October 8 2008) aimed at producing graduates who are kept abreast on the latest development in the National Creative Industry. This institution was initiated to adopt with the ability to innovate, contribute and lead in the new millennium.

History In Brief Sekilas FaktaKebijakan pemerintah merevitalisasi Pusat Grafika Indonesia (Pusgrafin) menjadi Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif (PoliMedia) merupakan misi strategis dan menindaklanjuti amanat Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada Pekan Produk Budaya Indonesia (PPBI) di JCC, 4 Juni 2008 yang menegaskan, “…We now must look at the creative and cultural industry as the way to our economic future.” Pernyataan ini juga menegaskan bahwa industri kreatif yang berbasis kreativitas dan budaya perlu untuk secara sistematis didukung melalui kebijakan pemerintah baik dari aspek industri maupun SDM.

Pendirian PoliMedia dimaksudkan untuk mendukung pertumbuhan berbagai bidang industri kreatif di Indonesia yang amat pesat di antaranya teknik grafika, desain grafis, penerbitan, periklanan, film/ video, animasi, fesyen, dan lain-lain. PoliMedia dibentuk dari perubahan kelembagaan Pusat Grafika Indonesia yang telah memiliki reputasi cukup panjang dalam pengembangan dan pembinaan SDM kegrafikaan, penerbitan, dan desain grafis. Sejak awal pendirian Pusgrafin, tahun 1969 sampai diubah menjadi PoliMedia pada tahun 2008, telah dilaksanakan berbagai jenis pelatihan dalam lingkup kegrafikaan yang pesertanya berasal dari instansi pemerintah, lembaga pendidikan, dan dunia usaha atau industri kegrafikaan, penerbitan, dan desain grafis di Indonesia.

PoliMedia didirikan berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional No. 60 tanggal 8 Oktober 2008, dengan tujuan untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki pengetahuan, ketrampilan, kreatif produksi serta wawasan kewirausahaan di bidang industri kreatif sehingga mampu mendukung pengembangan industri kreatif nasional.

The first and the only State Polytechnic of Creative Media, PoliMedia plays an important role in providing world-class education within the broad sphere of creative media. In the next coming years more programmes are being developed, such as: advertising, architecture, animation, broadcasting, fashion design and packaging.

PoliMedia is strategically placed within the creative communities which sistematically and continually improves its development and innovations through education, training, and community services for the sake of implementing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

PoliMedia merupakan lembaga pendidikan tinggi vokasi pertama yang secara khusus dirancang untuk menyediakan berbagai program studi yang relevan dengan bidang industri kreatif. PoliMedia merencanakan membuka berbagai program studi seperti: periklanan , multimedia, permainan interaktif, penyiaran, desain fesyen, teknik kemasan dan fotografi.

PoliMedia memiliki posisi strategis dalam komunitas industri kreatif nasional yang secara sistematis berupaya untuk selalu melakukan berbagai inovasi dan pengembangan melalui pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam peran untuk melaksanakan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Kehidupan modern dewasa ini penuh dikelilingi oleh berbagai produk kreativitas, seperti: rumah yang kita huni, baju yang kita pakai, buku yang kita baca, acara TV yang kita tonton, foto-foto yang kita pajang, kemasan produk yang kita jumpai, berbagai iklan yang menggoda kita, dan lain-lainnya. Kesemuanya itu merupakan produk dari sebuah era baru, yaitu era industri kreatif.

Meskipun era industri kreatif baru tumbuh, namun ternyata telah mampu memberikan sumbangan yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional, dan mendorong hadirnya kelompok masyarakat baru, yaitu masyarakat kreatif. Kelompok masyarakat inilah yang menyandarkan pencahariannya pada kemampuan kreatifitas mereka untuk menghasilkan nilai tambah ekonomi. Itulah yang disebut masyarakat ekonomi kreatif, sebagaimana yang diamanatkan oleh Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Apa itu ekonomi kreatif? Yaitu proses nilai tambah ekonomi yang bersumber kepada kreatifitas individu yang memiliki pengetahuan, teknologi dan seni-budaya sebagai penghasil barang, jasa ataupun karya seni. Kementerian Perdagangan telah mengelompokan 14 bidang industri yang masuk dalam kelompok sektor industri kreatif, yakni : Arsitektur, Desain, Fesyen atau Mode, Film/Video/Fotografi, Komputer & Piranti lunak, Pasar Seni & Barang Antik, Kerajinan, Permainan Interaktif, Musik, Penerbitan & Percetakan, Periklanan, Seni Pertunjukan, Riset & Pengembangan, Televisi & Radio.

Terkait dengan hal itu, PoliMedia adalah satu-satunya lembaga pendidikan tinggi media kreatif untuk mempersiapkan SDM yang akan mengisi kebutuhan industri kreatif nasional dan mampu menggerakkan pertumbuhan ekonomi kreatif.

The modern life style of today is fully boundaries with various creative products, such as: a house where we stay, clothes that we wear, books that we read, televison programs that we watch, photographs that we see, packagings that we find, any advertisings that grab us and others. All of them are the products of newly era, namely the era of creative industry.

The creative industry’s era that newly developed in this recent time, approved to be more significantly contributable toward the national economic growth and automatically encourages the rise of new communities named creative society. This cluster whose life based on what their own creativity provides value-added economy. The so called is the creative economy, as mandated by the President of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

What the creative economy is? That is the process of value-added economy derived from individual creativities with their knowledge and its technology as well as their culture as the basis of producing of products, services or arts and crafts. The Ministry of Trade Affairs categorized 14 sectors of creative industries, such as: Advertising, Architecture, Arts & Antique Market, Computer & Software, Crafting, Design, Fashion or Mode, Film/Video/Photography, Interactive Games, Music, Performing Arts, Publishing & Printing, Research & Development, Television & Radio.

Referring to such above condition, PoliMedia is the only higher institution of creative media to prepare the human resources who will fulfill the need of creative industry and trigger the growth of national economy creative.

Pola Pendidikan Learning Pattern

PoliMedia menerapkan proses pendidikan yang berorientasi pada kompetensi produksi, yaitu proses pendidikan yang menekankan pada peningkatan kemampuan aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik peserta didik untuk mampu menguasai kompetensi proses produksi sesuai dengan program studi yang diminati. Proses pendidikan tersebut diselenggarakan melalui pola kerjasama antara PoliMedia dengan dunia usaha dan industri melalui sistem orientasi industri yang dilaksanakan pada semester dua, magang industri pada semester empat, dan praktik industri pada semester enam. Untuk mencapai pola pendidikan tersebut, rasio pembelajaran yang diterapkan teori 40% dan praktik 60%.

PoliMedia has applied a learning pattern approaches to the production and entrepreneurship process which emphasize on the increasing of cognitive, affective, and psychomotoric aspects of the students to master the production and entrepreneurship competences in accordance with the study program they belong to. The learning pattern is held through collaborative scheme between PoliMedia and industrial world in the frame of orientation in the second semester, apprenticeship in the fourth semester, and industrial hands on in the six semester. To achieve the learning pattern, learning ratio process is implementated in 40% theory and 60% practicum.

OUR FACILITIES

The PoliMedia campus owns the representative building and office facilities with the dynamic architecture and panoramic green land. To support the qualified learning process, PoliMedia provides complete facilities of student's hand-on at various study programs, consisting of : studio facilities, laboratorium facilities, production facilities, and entrepreneurship facilities.

Apart from such above facilities, PoliMedia possess complete academic supported facilities, namely: Publishing and Printing Unit, Design and Advertising Unit, PoliMedia English Centre (PEC), ICT and Hotspot Unit, Entrepreneurship Unit, and modern library with electronic and digital facilities.

Ruang Kuliah

Ruang Kuliah PoliMedia dirancang untuk mendukung metode pembelajaran vokasi berbasis Student Centre Learning (SCL). Mahasiswa dan dosen dapat menikmati ruang kuliah yang nyaman bergaya teater dilengkapi dengan sarana multimedia memungkinkan untuk mengikuti proses belajar interaktif. Untuk itu, konsekuensinya PoliMedia membatasi kapasitas ruang kelas untuk 32 mahasiswa agar proses pembelajaran proporsional dan efektif.

Classroom is designed to support vocational learning methode approaches to the Student Centre Learning (SCL). Students and lectures are hand in hand learning in the dynamic teatric style of classroom equipped with multimedia facilities for interactive learning process. Laboratorium Pengujian Bahan Grafika merupakan satu-satunya fasilitas pengujian mutu kertas dan tinta di Indonesia yang hanya dimiliki PoliMedia. Program Studi Teknik Grafika dirancang secara khusus untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi, pengetahuan, keahlian dan keterampilan di bidang teknik mencetak yang mencakup pracetak, produksi cetak, dan pasca-cetak, serta memiliki kemampuan untuk berwirausaha di bidang industri kreatif. Program ini sangat sesuai bagi calon mahasiswa yang ingin meniti karir di bidang industri grafika. Program Studi Teknik Grafika didukung dengan fasilitas praktik produksi yang lengkap mulai dari mesin konvensional sampai dengan mesin cetak digital, laboratorium bahan, simulator cetak, mesin cetak ofset dua warna dan empat warna, dan lain-lain. Learning Process

Supported with complete facilities of pre-press, press, and post-press, the students will finish their study in six semesters. In Semester One and Two, students will get basic theory, practice, and Industrial Orientation. Semester Three and Four, the students get a lot of practices in printing color and digital, Printing Management, and Industrial Apprenticeship. In semester Five and Six, the students get more about printing industry and entrepreneurship, as well submit present their Comprehension Project.

Program Studi Desain Grafis dirancang secara khusus untuk mencetak lulusan yang terampil dalam melakukan kreasi seni dan desain untuk kebutuhan industri kreatif, meliputi: perancangan logo, branding, bahan penerbitan, kemasan, literatur promosi, dan media kehumasan. Untuk mengisi kebutuhan SDM industri kreatif khususnya di bidang desain grafis maka program studi ini berupaya mencetak lulusan dengan profil Ahli Madya Desain Grafis yang berwawasan kewirausahaan dan teknologi. Learning Process

Students will complete their study in six semesters described at every semester, consisting of gradually craftsmanship. The First Semester, the students will study basic subject as academic references before they design. The Second Semester, the students will master in making concept of Stationery Design. The Third Semester, the students will master in making concept of Publication Design. The Fourth Semester, the students will prepare their portfolio on the Corporate Identity Programme. The Sixth Semester the students will present their Compulsory Comprehensive Project. Proses Pembelajaran

Semester kelima kemampuan membuat rancangan bisnis dan portofolio produk fotografi. Semester keenam memiliki kemampuan wirausaha dan membuat proyek akhir fotografi sesuai peminatan. Untuk penajaman kompetensi tersebut, mahasiswa mendapat pembelajaran ektrakurikuler dalam bentuk orientasi industri, magang industri, dan praktik industri, masing-masing semester dua, semester empat, dan semester enam.

Ruang teori yang nyaman, laboratorium cetak fotografi, laboratorium komputer, laboratorium bahasa, studio fotografi, dan perpustakaan.

Learning Process

Students will finish their study in six semesters described at every semester, consisting of gradually craftsmanship through learning theory 40$ and practice 60%. During the First Semester, the student will get a basic theory of photography. The Second Semester, the student will know how to make photography concept. The Third Semester, the students will master in design and production process of photography. The Fourth Semester, the students will master in technical production for various kinds of photography products, The Fifth Semester, students prepare their portfolio on the photography products.The Sixth Semester, students will prepare their own project assigned as their entrepreneurship ability. In order to enhance its competence, students will have extracuriculer learning through Industrial Orientation, Industrial Apprenticeship, and Industrial Hand-on, each at the second, the fourth and the sixth semester.

UPT Desain dan Periklanan

Unit Desain dan Periklanan merupakan pusat inkubasi bisnis yang berperan melayani penyaluran bakat mahasiswa dalam praktik pembuatan rancangan desain barang cetakan, diantaranya: logo perusahaan, desain media publikasi, desain iklan, dan media promosi lainnya. Selain itu, unit ini juga berperan dalam praktik pembuatan rancangan produk bisnis desain untuk buku, majalah, tabloid baik cetak maupun elektronik.

Design and Advertising Unit is a business incubator for the students who wish to practically try designing any kinds of printed matters ranging from logo, Id card, cover design, poster, banner, brochures, leaflet, and calendar. Furthermore, this unit is also functioned to serve as a pathway of flowing the students' dream to pratically try planning the design business of products for books, magazines, and tabloid both printed or electronic formats.

Unit Penerbitan dan Percetakan merupakan pusat inkubasi bisnis yang berperan sebagai aplikasi praktik mahasiswa di bidang percetakan dan penerbitan. Melalui lembaga ini kompetensi mahasiswa jurusan teknik grafika terlihat dari kemampuan melakukan proses produksi cetak berdasarkan riil di Industri. Sementara mahasiswa jurusan penerbitan mampu melakukan kreasi editing dan writing sebagai bagian dari proses panjang produksi penerbitan media.

Lulusan PoliMedia dipersiapkan untuk mampu menguasai bahasa asing terutama bahasa Inggris baik pasif maupun aktif dengan target skor minimum TOEFL 500. Bagaimana Prosedur Pendaftaran

Informasi lengkap tentang jenis program studi dan persyaratan menjadi mahasiswa PoliMedia dapat dilihat pada situs: www.polimedia.ac.id atau melalui leaflet dan brosur penerimaan mahasiswa 2010. Berikut ini informasi umum jalur penerimaan mahasiswa baru dan jumlah kuota yang akan diterima pada Tahun Akademik 2010/2011.

Jalur Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru

Jalur Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru PoliMedia sesuai petunjuk dari Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional adalah sebagai berikut:1. Jalur Penelusuran Minat dan Kemam puan (PMDK).

Ini merupakan jalur untuk menjaring mahasiswa unggul dan berprestasi yang mempunyai minat di bidang pendidikan vokasi industri kreatif.

2. Jalur Bidik Misi Bagi Masyarakat Kurang Mampu. Ini merupakan jalur pemberian beasiswa langsung bagi siswa berbakat dan berprestasi.

3. Jalur Ujian Masuk Politeknik Negeri (UMPN). Ini merupakan jalur seleksi bagi calon mahasiswa melalui ujian masuk yang diselenggarakan secara nasional dan serentak di kalangan Politeknik Negeri.

Target Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru

Sesuai dengan rencana strategi dan daya tampung fasilitas, PoliMedia pada tahun akademik 2010/2011 akan menerima mahasiswa baru sebanyak 288 mahasiswa, terdiri atas 3 (tiga) program studi yang sudah ada (Teknik Grafika, Desain Grafis, dan Penerbitan) masing-masing 2 (dua) kelas dan 3 (tiga) program studi baru yang baru dibentuk pada tahun 2010, yaitu Teknik Kemasan, Periklanan Kreatif, dan Fotografi masing-masing 1 kelas. Dari rencana target penerimaan mahasiswa baru tahun akademik 2010/2011 ini, yaitu sebanyak 288 orang, diharapkan penerimaan dari jalur PMDK sebanyak 144 orang, dari jalur Bidik Misi sebanyak 10 orang, dan dari jalur UMPN sebanyak 134 orang.

Students' Admission Strategy

There are three systems of PoliMedia Student Admission according to the guide from General Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education as follows:1. Talent Scouting System. This is the strategy of

talent scouting track for those who are smart and talented students in the field of vocational creative school.

2. Bidik Misi System for Smart Grassroots. This is the strategy of providing fellowship for the smart grassroots.

3. State Polytechnic Admission Systems. This is the strategy of getting the new students through the State Polytechnic Matriculation.

Students' Admission Quorum

Referring to the strategic plan and facilities capacities, PoliMedia in the academic year 2010/2011 will only accept 288 newly coming students for three existing study programs (Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, and Publishing) with 2 classes each and three incoming study programs (Packaging, Creative Advertising, and Photography) with 1 class each. Prior to the target of students’ acceptance for academic year 2010/2011, 288 students, it is expected to get 144 students from PMDK System, 10 from Bidik Misi System, and 134 students from UMPN System.

PoliMedia telah merancang Rencana Strategis (Renstra) pengembangan kampus yang akan terwujud dalam waktu 5 tahun ke depan (2009-2014). Target-target yang sudah diprogramkan meliputi :

PoliMedia berada di lokasi sangat strategis, tepatnya di jantung kawasan Perguruan Tinggi ternama di Jakarta Selatan, seperti: Universitas Indonesia, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Gunadarma, Universitas Pancasila, Institut Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (IISIP), serta Institut Sain dan Teknologi Nasional.

Lokasi kampus bernuansa lingkungan alami dan sejuk yang dikenal sebagai kawasan pendidikan dikelilingi oleh sentra-sentra pelayanan fasilitas perkantoran di sepanjang Jalan Margonda Raya, Depok dan Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung Jakarta Selatan. Kampus PoliMedia berada di Jalan Srengseng Sawah Jagakarsa Jakarta Selatan

Untuk mencapai lokasi kampus, terdapat beberapa alternatif akses, antara lain: menggunakan kereta api dari arah Kota menuju Bogor atau sebaliknya, berhenti di stasiun Universitas Indonesia. Jika menggunakan transportasi bis Anda dapat menggunakannya dari arah Kalideres menuju Depok.

Where Our Location Is

PoliMedia is located within the strategic location, precisely in the center of university area in South Jakarta, such as: University of Indonesia, the State Polytechnic of Jakarta, Gunadarma University, Pancasila University, Institute of Social Science and Politics, and Institute of National Science and Technology.

The campus area with a natural environmental nuance, that is well-known as the educational atmosphere boundaries by many business service centers along the jalan Margonda Raya and jalan Lenteng Agung Raya, in South Jakarta. Our campus locate at Jalan Srengseng Sawah Jakarta Selatan

To reach the campus location, there are many alternative accesses, such as by train from Kota to Bogor back and forth, stop at the Indonesia University station. If you use the public vehicles, you may take the bus from Kalideres to Depok. Be sure to consult your maps.
