Result oriented narrative report

1. Background information

1) Context

Please provide a summary of the relevant changes that had an impact on preconditions to achieve the project’s objectives. Please describe per country and region (for regional and global projects).

Please elaborate on the effects of the Covid-19 on the local partners and the project in section 2, progress in achieving the expected results and project objectives.

Write here

2) Contextual changes in relation to civic space

This information goes to a specific report to Sida which analyses annually the state of the civic space2. If the partners have not been affected by shrinking civic space and/or have not been working with the issues specified in the questions, please state so.

a) Describe briefly how the project partners3 have been affected by shrinking civic space. It can be for example changes in regulatory frameworks, judicial harassment or informal limitations caused by governments, employers, and other actors.

Write here

b) Are there any examples of changes in legal and regulatory frameworks that have increased civic space for local partners?

2 Civic space, according to OECD, is the set of legal, policy, institutional, and practical conditions necessary for non-governmental actors (such as trade unions) to access information, express themselves, associate, organise, and participate in public life. "Open" space makes it possible for these actors to claim their rights and influence the political and social structures around them. “Shrinking” civic space are limitations in claiming rights and exercising influence.

3 Since this section of the report is on the overall level, the term “project partners” includes the local unions, global union federations and their (sub) regional structures, and Swedish unions’ international engagement in countries relevant for the project/programme.
