    SUMMARY

Going to Industry first time was a great experience. It was a great learning experience to work as a civil engineer on

the construction site of Mohali Bus Terminal Cum Commercial Complex a project by C & C Constructions LTD.

The site is situated in Mohali.

About my work at the Mohali Junction site, I have Worked in QA/QC and EXECUTION department. The project

was related to different subjects which I had studied during my academic career but did not know that how to apply

this theory to the real situations, which I experienced at The Mohali Junction. Side by side I understood the critical

things at different stages of the project. How to get work done from the workers or seniors, how to interact with the

different people at different stages and interaction with different department.

The project was the first engineering project which I handled by myself. It made me realize that in actual practice it

is not so easy to apply the concepts studied in the college directly in the industry. The project turned out to be a great

experience to understand the system and to find the possible solution of the problems.

The project also made gave me an insight of the developments in the industry and how ideas are actually taken to

    implementation in an industry.

1.3 JOINT VENTURES AND STRATEGIC ALLIANCES

    OF THE COMPANY

The company has executed infrastructure projects in the past independently and in joint

ventures. The joint venture partners include M/S BSCPL with whom we have been working forover eight years. Recently they have entered another joint venture with M/S Sukhmani

Engineers to address the water sewerage and sanitation segment in the infrastructure space.

This has enabled the company to obtain larger projects that require resources beyond those thatthey may have individually, such as financial strength, capital equipment, technical expertise

    and local content resources.

In a project-specific joint venture, each member of the joint venture shares the risks andrevenues of the project according to a predetermined agreement. The profits and losses of the

oint venture are shared among the members according to a predetermined ratio. The fixed

assets that are acquired by the joint venture are generally transferred to the respective joint

venture members upon completion of the joint venture project. The construction contracts that

the joint ventures enter into typically impose joint and several liabilities on the members. The

project-specific joint venture typically terminates at the completion of the defect liabilityperiod, at which point the project-specific joint venture liquidates and dissolves.
