Planning and Implementation Strategy :

The PIA will be responsible to implement the component of

IWMP.

The PIA should analyse the status of natural resources

potential to determine the befitting production system and

microenterprises by means of PRA, net planning and focus

group discussion .

Information will be feed into DPR which will be a prerequisite

for availing the funds under the production system and

microenterprises component.

PIA should prepare action plan e.g. Aquaculture, horticulture, agriculture, agro-

forestry, animal husbandry, microenterprise, agro- processing, value addition, marketing etc . and it

should form integral part of DPR.

Mode of Operation and Eligibility for availing Funds

Selection of beneficiaries will be done by PIA, in

consultation with WC.

Individual land holders/owners can avail the benefits of

production system on their private land.

The small and marginal farming households, women

headed farming households, SC & ST farmers will be given

preference based on the wealth ranking exercise

The funds will be given for cost intensive farming system

based livelihood activities/interventions.

The contribution of farmers : 10% General category

5% for SC/ST

Maximum limit of an amount (i.e. Rs 12,000/15,000 per

ha, as the case may be).

Farmers’ contribution will go to WDF.

Budget, procedure of release and administration:

•It has to be ensured that at least 10% of the total project funds

are utilized for the benefit of production system and

microenterprise based livelihood activities.

The fund amount shall be taken out of the total project fund as a

grant to WC in their bank account which in turn will be used to

provide financial assistance to identified farmers.

Based on the application received for such activities, a team

consisting of WC, PIA and nodal officer of the concerned line

department and Technical Expert of WCDC will approve the

proposal.

Capacity Building:

•The capacity building needs of the land holder/owner should be

included in the action plan prepared during PRA and baseline

survey.

•The capacity building should aim at skill enhancement and not

just knowledge and information.

•The capacity building component should be decided in

consultation with WC for making necessary budgetary provision

on annual basis.

Strategy – Household planning

The expenditure for such trainings may be met from 5%

of the budget provided for institution & capacity building

in the project.

The capacity building aspects will have field visits/

exposure visit to successful farming system

models/demonstrations.

2. Analysis : Select the most promising / enterprise/

products

3. Action : Plan the enterprise for sustainable

development

Interventions of ASEED:

•Brought most of the farmers of village Ghandalu under one umbrella of food and fruit processing unit.

•Assured purchase of their produces with better price locally with cash payment.

•The farmers of Ghandalu and neighboring 07 villages trained for rejuvenating their old fruit plants by adding calcium in the root zone,

grafting, layering, top working etc. •Later they were grouped in 08 different Interested Farmers Groups (FIG) which were federated into society named “Gramya Kissan

Bahudeshiya Sawayat Sahakari Samiti”.

•These FIGs were further trained for timely harvesting, storage, marketing with better prices along with saving the wastage of fruits etc. •Each member of the FIGs were provide with 10 – 15 hybrid citrus fruit plants and high yielding varieties of vegetables like Chilli, Onion,

Potato, Tomato, Tamarind and Zinger were also introduced at their farm lands with improved technology of cultivation like playhouses,

vermin composting.

•Value addition of local cereals and other products of processing units are having higher demand in the towns like Pauri, Lansdown,

Kotdware and Dehra Dun.

• Smaitee participating in the SARAS fair and other fairs organized in the Pragarti Maidan, Delhi.
