Process of editing the photos for our poster

To begin with we placed our two photos into photo shop we a black background so we could see the white background of the photos for when we were going to cut them out this would be easier and also because black was the background of our poster (shown right).

To cut/edit the photo to begin with we started with the character Joe, we selected the layer he was placed in, we then went to the tool bar and selected the Magnetic Lasso Tool which means we can cut around the outline of there heads automatically with this tool as it is

magnetic the colour and edge of the photo (shown below)

Once the head had been cut out we used the rubber tool just to fine the edges and to make them look a lot smoother and cleaner cut. We then repeated the same process for the character charlotte; our next step was to change the colour of the photos, as our film was in a sepia time colour we wanted our photos to be as well to represent to film well. To create this effect we started by going to the image tool at the top of Photoshop.

Then by going to adjustments and black white this box comes up where u can adjust the sort of black and white you want.

We didn’t change any of the adjustments here as we just wanted a basic black and white effect for us to then edit on top so we could gain the sepia effect and to do this effect we went to image again at the top of the Photoshop.

We went again to adjustments but then onto colour balance we were able to change the colour of the black and white photo.

This box above then comes up where we can edit the colour of photo, by moving the little arrows to the left and right we were able to create out sepia look, the only thing we felt needed to be edited was the brightness of the photo as it seemed duller. (Shown left)

We felt the photo could show lighter, we edited this by going again to image at the top of Photoshop.

By going to adjustments and then brightness and contrast the box below box came up where we were

And this is the effect we finally created…

And again we repeated all the effects for the character of Charlotte to make both photos look identical and to keep a continuous effect.
