Evidence of People Completing my Survey

Page 3: Primary Research

This data connotes that there was a 53% of the people who answered the survey were male, the other 47% was female. This however does not provide me with any useful information about what people think of the soap opera genre.

Page 4: Primary Research

This question has clearly shown that 54% of the people who answered the survey are the ages of 17 and under. This could therefore imply that the people that dominantly watch soap operas are those of this age range.

There is however a small portion of people between 18-34, again this could illustrate that soaps are geared towards a younger audience.

Page 5: Primary Research

It is shown here in the results that the majority (54%) of people said that they do not watch soap operas. However there were nearly just as many that would sometimes watch a soap opera. Therefore they would have some knowledge of the soap opera genre. There was only 8% of people who did watch soap operas.

Page 6: Primary Research

The majority of people who answered the survey believed that soap operas would appeal more to females, that the males. There was a small amount of people that believe that soaps were appealing to both genres.

Page 7: Primary Research

91.67% of people who answered the survey agreed that females are represented more in a soap opera than the male gender.

Page 8: Primary Research

Many people believed that cheating/affairs was the main appeal to the genre, however there was mixed opinions on the other topics with near equal views on family issues, crime and even people suggesting ‘escapism’ (Katz).

Page 9: Primary Research

The majority of people who answered the questionnaire believes that a trailer for the soap would be the best marketing technique for the new soap. However some people also believe that viral marketing should be used.

No-one thought that posters should be used.

Page 10: Primary Research

Everyone who answered had very mixed views on what they wanted to see in a soap opera. However the general consensus was to see something that is very exciting and has more drama, such as murder and lies.

Page 11: Primary Research

Most (77%) people who answered the survey wanted to see a new soap opera, whereas a few others did not want to see one.

Page 12: Primary Research

Again, people had very mixed views on what the like about current soap operas. Respondents said that they like how easy and consist the soaps are to watch. Others said how they are very appealing to their age range, which made them better to watch.
