BACKGROUND

An Agency under Ministry of Communications Established in 2008 by Act 771 responsible for implementation of Electronic Transactions Act 772 NITA is empowered to: • Oversee the implementation of a National ICT Infrastructure

project. • Approve standard, applications and programs to improve the

work of government to ensure higher productivity. • Responsibility of ensuring that there is efficiency and security

in the ICT sector in Ghana • Provide quality ICT in Ghana

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Electronic Transactions Law Act 772Objective • promote e-government services and electronic communications and

transactions with public and private bodies, institutions and citizens;• develop a safe, secure and effective environment for the consumer, business

and the Government to conduct and use electronic transactions;• promote the development of electronic transaction services responsive to

the needs of consumersGovernment Electronic Services, Acceptance of electronic filing and issuing of documents25. A public body shall take steps or enter into arrangements to ensure that its functions are carried out, delivered or accessed electronically or online.
