In some documents, you may find special characters or prior to each paragraph. These are called bullets. A Bullets is special character or symbol that is used to offset text. We place Bullets in our document to identify items in a list. You can either choose a Symbol Bullet or a Number Bullet.

To add Bullets (symbols) to a paragraph, you must first move the cursor to any point in the paragraph.

Do one of the following:

In the Format Menu ,click Bullets and Numbering.

You may also right -click the paragraph, then click Bullets and Numbering on the Shortcut Menu . When the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box appears , click Bulleted Tab. Under the Bulleted Tab select a Bullet Style, then click OK. Bullet Style boxes

Note : You can customize your Bulleted List by clicking the Customize bottom on the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box . In the Customize Bulleted List Dialog Box, you can adjust the Bullet Character, Bullet Position, and Text Position.

Click the Bullets button on the Formatting Toolbar. The Bullets Button uses the Default Bulleted List Settings. You can also use this button to quickly remove a bulleting of a paragraph.

TIPS: You can also

turn on the bulleted list ,

Feature by typing an asterisk ( * ) before typing the last item.

Word has a automatically applies number and bullet points to paragraphs.

These features are “intelligent”. If you enter a number, the next consecutive number follows the format of the previous paragraph.

Numbering paragraphs make a certain part of the text stand out from the rest it also arranges thoughts in more orderly fashion.

Note: You must first place an Insertion Point [i.e. the point where you want the first number to appear ] in your text

On the Format Menu ,click Bullets and Numbering Or ,right-click the Paragraph. Click Bullets and Numbering on the Shortcut Menu. When the Bullets and numbering Dialog Box appears, click Numbered Tab, select a Numbered Style then click OK.

The Numbered Tab in the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box includes Radio Buttons. This allow you to specify if you want to continue an existing list or start a new Numbered List.

You can customize your Numbered List by clicking the Customize Button on the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box. On the Customize Numbered List Dialog Box, you can adjust the Number Format, Number Position, and Text Position.

Click the Numbering Button on the Formatting Toolbar. The Numbering Button uses the default Numbering List Setting. You can also use this button quickly remove the numbering of a paragraph.

You can also turn on the Numbered List Feature before you type the list item.

Click the Numbering Button on the Formatting Toolbar to turn on the formatting .Type the lit item. Click the Numbering Button to turn formatting off.

An Outline Numbered List is similar to a bulleted or numbered list, except, that an outline numbered list may also contain items under an entry.

Follow these steps:

1. Highlight the items to be included on the list .

2. In the Format Menu, click Bullets and Numbering: or you may also right-click the paragraph then click Bullets and Numbering on the Shortcut Menu. When the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box appears, click Outline Numbered Tab in the Outline Numbered Tab, select an Outline Numbered Style, then click O.K .

You can Customize your Outline Numbered List by clicking the Customize Button in the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box. In the Customize Outline Numbered List Dialog box; you can adjust the Number Format, Number Position and Text Position.

3. Highlight the item (s) belonging an entry, then click the Increase Indent Button on the Formatting Toolbar to tell Word that the selected item (s) fall under preceding entry.

4. Repeat Step 3 if you need to indent more items.

CREATE A LISTS STYLE USING BULLETS AND NUMBERING

A List Style is a style of your own creation. Here, you can modify the alignment, number, bullet, and fonts of a list.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1.On the Format Menu, click Bullets and Numbering. You also right-click the paragraph, then click Bullets and Numbering on the Shortcut Menu. When the Bullets and Numbering Dialog Box appears, click List Styles Tab.

2. On the List Styles Tab, click Add Button.

Tip: You can create List Style by looking into the Format Menu and the Styles and Formatting

3. In the New Style Dialog Box, type a name for your style on Style Name Box. Select the formatting that you want to apply to the style.

Tip: Click the Add to Template checkbox if you want to add the new style to the template that is attached to the active document.

4.If you want to apply another formatting, click Format Button in the New Style Dialog Box, then select the format of your choice, then click OK.
