Powder Metallurgy Association of India

The Powder metallurgy Association of India (PMAI) is the premier organization for Powder Metallurgy (PM) professionals in India and was founded in 1973. Activities of PMAI include one day workshops, Four days short course every year on Powder Metallurgy for industrial personnel and prospective entrepreneurs and annual technical meetings. The publications of PMAI are: PM newsletters, Transactions of PMAI, proceedings of One Day Workshops, who's who in PM in India. The Powder Metallurgy Association of India has been Promoting Powder Metallurgy related activities over the past three decades. This year the Powder Metallurgy Association of India (PMAI) is organizing the course from 1st to 4th October 2015 in association with the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science, College of Engineering Pune (COEP).

About Dept of Metallurgy and Material Science

College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), started in 1854, is a nationally respected leader in the technical education. The institute is distinguished by its commitment to finding solutions to the great predicaments of the day through advanced technology. The institute has a rich history and dedication to the pursuit of excellence. COEP offers a unique learning experience across a spectrum of academic and social experiences.

Established in 1948, the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science of COEP is a unique establishment in and around western Maharashtra in educating students as Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Day by day, the demand of this skilled human resource in the industry is rising sharply due to the globalization of Indian economy. The department strives hard in fulfilling these requirements. The active support of eminent members of alumni in India and abroad ranging from research scientists in developing computer chips to the managing directors - has helped the department in training the students in state of the art technology. Powder Metallurgy Short Term Course (PMSC)

PMSC 15 has an intensive curriculum and calls for full involvement from morning to evening on all three days of the course. The course provides an excellent platform to introduce participants to the vast portfolio of PM technologies that can be gainfully harnessed by the industry with special focus on niche products and application areas. Participants who are involved in PM will benefit from a deeper understanding of their activities and get an insight to recent advancements in the science & practice of PM. Participants will be examined for the knowledge acquired and will be issued with a certificate from PMAI. Participation is restricted to a maximum of 60, on first come first served basis.

The course is useful for all those associated with design, manufacture, buying & use of PM metal, hard metal, ceramic & composite PM parts.
