Portfolio Piece # 2

Page 2: Portfolio #2

•This is some work from the first art class I took at the University of Rhode Island. This was a two-dimensional art class that focused on black and white. We concentrated on areas with symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns, positive and negative space, and object placement.

Symmetrical & Asymmetrical Patterns

•This piece was created using both symmetrical & asymmetrical circles. The closed black circles are all equal in size on both sides and placed evenly into the design. The open circles are different sizes on each side, but placed symmetrically.

Object Placement

•This piece was part of the object placement lesson. It’s a black and white collage consisting of objects and people of a subject that we find interest in.

•The following two pieces are also about object placement, and balance of an object in a frame.

Positive & Negative Space

•This piece was all about positive and negative space, while making it look abstract. I used symmetry and object placement to complete this project, while trying to balance positive and negative space.

Patterns

•This piece is about creating patterns while staying aware of negative and positive space. The objective was to find two objects that relate to something we’re interested in and create a pattern where both objects where shown in each box.
