10 Walking in a Dungeon
are mysteriousplaces that appearinside caves,mountains, andother areas. Each time you enterone, the layout will be different.Once you’re inside, you can leave amystery dungeon by clearing anobjective or finding your way to thevery end—or by being defeated.
Each dungeonconsists of multiplefloors. You’ll findstairs leading fromone floor to thenext. Walk over the stairs, and amessage will appear. If youchoose Yes, you will advance to thenext floor. You won’t be able toreturn to previous floors once youhave moved on.

You can clear adungeon byclearing its finalfloor or by fulfillingthe conditions ofthe job that sent you there. The
your allies → enemy Pokémon. EachPokémon can take one action on itsturn. As long as you don’t take anaction, neither will any otherPokémon.
• If you spend too many turns on asingle floor in a dungeon, a gustof wind will blow you away,causing your expedition to fail.
Pokémon have HP (stamina) that isreduced when they take damage.When their HP reaches zero, theyfaint (p. 12). HP is restored witheach passing turn and can also berestored by certain items or moves.
While you’re in a dungeon, yourPokémon’s Belly becomes emptierwith each passing turn. When aPokémon’s Belly is empty, its HPbegins to drain away. A Pokémon’sBelly can be restored by eatingApples or other food.

12 Battling Enemies
Exp. Points. When a Pokémon gainsenough Exp. Points, it will go up alevel and become stronger.
While holding ,press either , ,, or to use amove (p. 22).Different types ofmoves will match up differentlyagainst different types of Pokémon.The icons that will be displayed withmoves, in order from most to leaseffective, ar , an . Using moves will deplete PP. Oncethe PP for a move reaches zero,that move will no longer be usableuntil its PP is replenished.

When you press while holdingdown , you can switch to Alliancemode, which lets all of yourteammates surround an enemy anduse a move. By pressing again ortapping the Touch Screen, you canstart up your Alliance. You canregister what moves to use at thosetimes in Alliance settings (p. 22) inthe menu.
• When a Pokémon uses a move aspart of an Alliance, its Belly will beemptied more than usual.
• You will gain the ability to formAlliances as the game progresses.
If the HP of thePokémon you’recontrolling isreduced to zero,that Pokémon willfaint. If all of the Pokémon with a ☆next to their names on the TouchScreen faint, you’ll have to call forhelp or give up on your currentexpedition.
If you have fainted, go to PelipperIsland to call for help. If you do, youcan get help from others (p. 25–26).

Return to the main menu, and selectPelipper Island. There is a limit tohow many times you can call forhelp on the same adventure. Thereare also dungeons where you can’tcall for help.
• While you’re waiting to berescued, you’ll be unable tocontinue your adventure in themain game.
If you give up or are unable to callfor help when you faint, yourexpedition will be considered afailure. You’ll be returned to th

15 Things to Do in Town

Talk to Meowth,and choose Film anexpedition. This willenable you toexplore a specialdungeon. While you are in one ofthese dungeons, your progress willbe recorded and saved on your SDCard whether you make it throughthe entire dungeon successfully orfail midway through. The amount offree space required on your SD Cardwill vary based on your films’lengths and how many you make.
• You can’t bring items intothese dungeons. Your belongingswill all be sent to the Deposit Boxtemporarily. Likewise, anything youpick up in these dungeons can’tbe brought back with you.

You can acceptrequests for help bytalking to certainPokémon or bychecking out theirposts via the Connection Orb in yourExpedition Gadget.
Leave from the villageor town’s exit, andchoose yourdestination. Dungeonsthat feature inexpedition requests you havaccepted are marked wit , andpressing will allow you to viewthe details.

26 How to Rescue Pokémon
❶ Talk to thePelipper on theleft, select Sendmail, and thenselect thecorrect piece of Help-Me Mail.Next, you will choose the methodof sending your mail.
❷ Wait for rescue. While you wait,you can continue to visitdungeons from the north gate onPelipper Island. (Keep in mindthat if you faint in thesedungeons, you cannot berescued.)
❸ Once you have beenrescued, you will beable to receiveReviver Mail fromyour rescuer. Talkto the Pelipper on the left, andselect Pick up mail. Then selectyour preferred method of pickingup your Reviver Mail.
