A Visit To “GOLDEN TEMPLE”
The Harmandir Sahib also Darbar Sahib and informally re-
ferred to as the "Golden Temple” is a promi-
nent S ikh Gurdwara located in the c i ty
of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was built by the fourth Sikh guru,
Guru Ramdaas Sahib Ji, in the 16th Century. In 1604, Guru Ar-
jun completed the Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism,
and installed it in the Gurudwara.
The Harimandir Sahib is considered holy by Sikhs. The holiest
text of Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib,is always present in-
side the Gurdwara. Its construction was mainly intended to
build a place of worship for men and women from all walks
of life and all religions to come and worship God equally.
Over 100,000 people visit the holy shrine daily for worship.
A Visit To “WAGHA BORDER”
Wagah is the only road border crossing between Pakistan and
India, and lies on the Grand Trunk Road between the cities
of Amritsar, Punjab, India, and Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.
The border is located 22 kilometres (14 mi) from Lahore and
32 kilometres (20 mi) from Amritsar. A ceremony takes place
every evening before sunset at the Wagah border.
Ceremony starts with a blustering parade by the soldiers
from both the sides, and ends up in the perfectly coordinat-
ed lowering of the two nations' flags. It is called the beating
retreat border ceremony on the international level.
One Jawan stands at attention on each side of the gate. As
the sun sets, the iron gates at the border are opened and
the two flags are lowered simultaneously
A Visit To “JALLIANWALA BAGH” Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar and houses
a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 to
commemorate the massacre by British occupying forces
of peaceful celebrators on the occasion of the Punjabi
New Year on April 13, 1919 in the Massacre. Colonial British
Raj sources identified 379 fatalities and estimated about
1100 wounded. Civil Surgeon Dr. Smith indicated that there
were 1,526 casualties.
The true figures of fatalities are unknown, but are likely to be
many times higher than the official figure of 379. The 6.5-
acre (26,000 m2) garden site of the massacre is located in
the vicinity of Golden Temple complex, the holiest shrine
of Sikhism. The memorial is managed by the Jallianwala
Bagh National Memorial Trust, which was established as per
the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Actpassed by
the Government of India in 1951.

FORT’S OF AMRITSAR One of the Amritsar Tourist Attractions, the Gobindgarh Fort
is a very important site with immense historical signifi-
cance. Locally known as the 'Bhangian Da Quila', the fort
was constructed in the year 1760. Historical evidences
prove that the fort belonged to Gujjar Singh Bhangi during
the early nineteenth century, which gave it the earlier men-
tioned name. Pul Kanjri has been declared as a World Her-
itage Site by the UNESCO
