It is a matter of great pride for all of us that BIM has made great strides in the last two decades and has emerged as one of the leading B-schools in India. We carry forward BIM’s legacy with BIM-Bangalore, to foster the same environment of success.

We understand that the corporate world is looking at people who are able to work at the speed of thought. As the modern management mantra is “Speed is God, delay is devil”, at BIM Bangalore we have carefully selected “Fast Learners and Speedy Doers” as students and they have been groomed as dedicated professionals with a lot of commitment coupled with competence.

We are proud to say that 72% of our students have rich experience in reputed companies with diverse backgrounds. We are confident that our students will turn out to be invaluable assets for your organization. We strive for excellence in whatever we do. BIM Bangalore has well qualified experienced faculty and we supplement this with guest faculty drawn from other top class management institutions. By getting visiting faculty from the corporate world and from top policy makers on a regular basis, we ensure constant blending between theory and practice.

As a valuable corporate client to BIM Bangalore, we are aware that you will be constantly searching for excellence and looking for people who will be contributing to growth of your organization. We can confidently assure you that your search will end at BIM Bangalore.

Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. And if the idea has enough potential to change the face of managerial education, it becomes a force to reckon with.

One such idea was born in 1984, when Bharat Ratna Shri. C. Subramaniam, along with Prof. P. S. Mani Sundaram, the first Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University chaired a meeting of leading academicians and industrialists. The concept of a management institute that would be grounded in strong theoretical inputs and would have the proactive partnership of a large industrial organization was envisioned.

With this vision in mind, a partnership was forged with BHEL to create the country's first ever Management Institute that would be housed inside an industrial giant. Thus was born Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) - School of Excellence.

Today, BIM has many laurels to its credit. BIM is one of the most trusted B-Schools in India and has been consistently rated among the top twenty B-Schools in India and the #1 Business School in Tamil Nadu. His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India had chosen BIM as an ideal training ground for DRDO scientists.

BIM felt an ardent need for a fast track program that would quench the need of the growing number of working individuals and the exponentially increasing industry requirements for quality managers. As a means of filling this vacuum, BIM launched its unique, innovative, flexible, accelerated thirteen month PGDBM program for regular students and a sixteen month weekend program for executive students at the Bangalore campus.

Our Bangalore campus, carries forward BIM's legacy to foster the same environment of success. BIM-B's learning environment is a product of our belief that education should be driven by a need to keep pace with time, and it is made more effective by enabling the students to pursue an active learning process.

Pedagogy

The thirteen month fast-track PGDBM program is tailor-made to cater to students with prior work experience; this helps in juxtaposing their experience with academic and conceptual insights. With a curriculum that is contemporary as a well as classic and benchmarked with the best in the world, BIM-B has integrated learning content in ways that are innovative and enduring with time. It also acts as a platform to sharpen their swords of business acumen.

The academic rigor aims at creating a strong foundation strengthened by subsequent practical inputs from the industry. This is very evident from the fact that the students undergo common foundation papers in the first two terms and opt for specialization (Finance & Marketing) in the third term after completing a one month internship in their area of specialization.

The students take up their specialization during the third term. The electives offered under the specializations are periodically remodeled and restructured to meet the ever changing needs of the corporate world with inputs from industry experts and veteran academicians. This enables the students to be equipped with the most recent and relevant of knowledge and skills.

The program design has a dual focus on action learning and critical thinking. The students don't simply absorb theories and models and evaluate them in the classroom; by means of a series of projects, assignments and live consultancy projects the students are taken right into the workplace to test out their strengths and weaknesses and their own effectiveness in applying them.

“Learning by doing; the competitive advantage of turning thought into action”

We are committed to excellence and this philosophy reflects in all our initiatives and actions. BIM-B champions the belief of building leaders, not just managers. BIM-B offers an environment of excellence weaved together with freedom whereby students achieve and hone their management skills. A series of personal growth interventions are also provided at specific times during the program. These interventions are done on a workshop mode and utilize innovative approaches in learning including role playing, simulation games and experiential exercises.

Holistic learning

BIM-B believes in a harmonious blend of theoretical inputs and practical exposure. Keeping this in mind, the course at BIM Bangalore is designed in such a way that the students do a one month fulltime internship in an organization after the end of the core courses in the first two terms. The internship starts in Feb 2008 and extends till March 2008. A unique structure in this regards has been envisaged:

•to widen the student's academic perspective by providing an exposure to real life organizational situations - drawing parallels between management theory and practice;

• to customize the MBA curriculum in the elective terms to an individual's career aspiration; and

• to derive the benefit of having Business Ready Managers, who are rich in experience and have undergone pioneering management education.

“ …a harmonious

blend of theoretical inputs and practical

exposure “

BIM-B’s SocialResponsibility

The Social Concern Group (SCG) of BIM – B was conceptualized and initiated by the students of Batch IV. The Social Concern Group sensitizes the students to social contexts of business existence and the importance of ethical and value driven ways of doing business in an increasingly transparent society that puts industry under a great deal of scrutiny.

Through the SCG, we are associated with NGOs like Bosco Boys, Habitat India and SOS Children’s Villages of India. The SCG visits these NGOs quite frequently rendering service and helping in other developmental activities, providing a ‘Feel Good Factor’ for the incumbents of these NGOs.

The SCG also offers consulting services to Bosco Boys on Strategic Marketing, Project Implementation and Technical Support. Such associations with NGOs help :

•to sensitize the future managers and leaders on social, environmental and cultural challenges that our society faces;

•to develop a sense of social responsibility among the future business leaders; and

•to strengthen the Institute’s interface with the community at large.
