2 Note: This pattern is worked from the brim of the hat up (a one piece garment), but I have written it

in two sections to avoid confusion in row counting: brim, body. There are two ways to finish this

hat: Square or Mini Slouch. Instructions for both are found on the last page. Photos of certain

aspects of this pattern are shown so that you may successfully replicate the design, however,

please use the pictures for directional purposes and not necessarily for stitch and row counting –

enjoy!

0-6 Months: Brim of hat

1: Ch 6, work 1 HDc into fourth Ch from hook, HDc into following 2 Sts, Ch 1 (not a stitch, now and

throughout), turn work. (4 HDc)

2 – 24: HDc into back loops of each St across, Ch 1, turn work. (4 HDc)

Finishing: After last row, hold first row together with last row worked, Sl St to join by using whole

St from first row, and BLO of last row. Turn brim inside out (Sl Sts now on non-facing side,

conceals seam). Do not cut or fasten work, continue on to body of hat.

Body of Hat

1: Work 1 Sc into first available HDc end row, Ch 2 (first Dc St), work 3 Dc into same St, *skip next

HDc end row, work 4 Dc into following (see photo tutorial for exact placement). Around from *, Sl

St to join. (12 Dc clusters; 48 Dc)

2, 4, 6, 8: Ch 3 (first Dc St), *skip next 3 Sts, work 4 Dc into space between Dc clusters from previous

row, around from * except, work 3 Dc into final cluster space, Sl St to join with beginning Ch 3. (12
