1. SAOUG OVERVIEW

The South African Oracle User Group (SAOUG) is an organization independent of the Oracle Corporation that is managed and run by members of the local Oracle User Community, which includes all existing and new users of the Oracle hardware and software products which includes J D Edwards, PeopleSoft, Retek, Siebel and Hyperion.

It strives to service the members of this community by providing:

Value-adding Information; Interaction opportunities; and An alternative and independent view.

The SAOUG hosts a number of networking and/or specialised events throughout the year, which includes Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) with the primary focus on Oracle Technology, Database and Applications. The SAOUG’s premier event is the SAOUG 2010 Oracle User Conference, which is the most intensive information gathering session available to Oracle customers in South Africa. While many of the presentations will be made by customers who are using Oracle, PeopleSoft, J D Edwards, Retek, Siebel and Hyperion applications and technology, we will once again be collaborating closely with Oracle to ensure their much-valued participation.With the recent changes in Oracle we will also be focusing on the products that have been included in the SUN acquisition (e.g. Hardware, JAVA, MySQL, OpenSolaris).Through this conference, the SAOUG strives to provide members of the user community with a concentrated TWO days of leading edge, in-depth views and learning on the latest Oracle developments and how customers have leveraged these applications and technologies in their organizations.

2. THEME FOR 2010 ORACLE USER CONFERENCE

Our theme for 2010 is around EXPLORING your current assets, and gaining greater value from your current Oracle investments. Through this conference experience, the SAOUG strives to provide members of the user community with a leading edge, in-depth view and learning of the latest Oracle developments and how customers have leveraged their applications, hardware and technologies in their organizations.

3. FOCUS AREA AND KEY ISSUES

The event will emphasize on how organizations need to consider maximizing the value of their current applications and technologies, understanding the impact and opportunities arising from Oracle’s strategy and developments.

Top Oracle Fusion Ace Directors and customers will guide an intensive exploration into Oracle Fusion, current and future.

Key issues will be covered:

- How to maximize and extend the value of your excising applications;- The alternative strategies, tools and technologies needed to build and maximize your business.

4. EXPECTATIONS FROM THE SAOUG FOR SPEAKERS

4.1 Do you have the expertise and knowledge to share:-

Implemented or upgraded TO THE LATEST VERSION OF Oracle, PeopleSoft, J D Edwards, Siebel or Hyperion software;

Implemented or upgraded TO THE LATEST VERSION of hardware products, JAVA, MySQL, OpenSolaris;

Have had some experience with components of the Fusion Middleware; Used Oracle applications and/or technology in a unique way to enhance Processes, create value or

reduce cost; Had a particular unique implementation; An implementation, upgrade or specific application that other Oracle customers could learn from; Extensive knowledge of your company’s services of which you are proud; Relevant experiences from which others can learn from; Are an expert on a particular topic and want to share your expertise; An Oracle topic or area of concern that you want to debate in an open forum.

You do NOT have to be an excellent speaker, your passion, knowledge and desireto share that knowledge is what we are looking for.

8. SELECTION OF SPEAKERS

The SAOUG Conference Committee determines the conference structure and programme. To ensure a balanced selection of presentations, a speaker selection committee is formed. This committee

reviews and evaluates all papers submitted and chooses those that as a whole create an exciting programme.

Speakers will be selected on the basis of subject interest, suitability, topicality and quality of the abstract submitted. Preference will be given to educational papers, case studies and new products and ideas. The speaker selection committee‘s decision will be final on the selection of papers.

9. SPEAKER BENEFITS

The good news is that, if selected, you can attend the conference without having to pay a registration fee. This includes all the social events. (The SAOUG does not pay fees to conference speakers.)

Hotel accommodation for International Speakers and all local speakers will be for their OWN cost and selected hotels can be booked via the SAOUG Conference 2010 website to ensure discounted rates and availability.

Speakers stand a chance to win 1 of the 3 awards, which will be awarded at the last keynote session on Tuesday, 2 November 2010. These are:1. Award for the Best Speaker at the SAOUG 2010 Oracle User Conference2. Award for the Best Written Paper SAOUG 2010 Oracle User Conference 3. Award for the Most Innovative Presentation SAOUG 2010 Oracle User Conference.

Speakers’ papers and presentation will be published on the SAOUG website (with your written consent) whereby attendees may view or download them for future reference.

10.HOW TO ENSURE YOU ARE SELECTED

1. Submission Requirements must be adhered to as stipulated;2. DO NOT BE LATE – Make sure your submission is ON-TIME!3. Successful speakers are selected based on the following:-

The quality of your submission; How exciting / valuable / sought after your topic is perceived to be; How interesting, educational and/or informative your presentation will be; How applicable your topic is and how well it relates to the theme of the conference.

If you are keen on participating, but need some time for your topic or you are not sure what to do, please contact the SAOUG office and we will note your interest and lend assistance where we can to get your submission submitted in time for evaluation by the committee.

11.SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Should you wish to present a paper at the SAOUG 2010 Oracle User Conference, or recommend a potential speaker; the following must be submitted by NO LATER THAN 16 JULY 2010:

The selection process is highly competitive and will be reviewed by an independent speaker selection committee. To ensure that your submission is considered, please make sure that it is complete, any applications that are not complete may be returned.

An abstract of 200 – 300 words to fit on one page (For use in the SPOT-ME device)

Company logo (High res Colour JPG) and company information 40 – 50 words (description and services offered). If selected, this information will be used in conference promotional literature, the SAOUG website and for introductory purposes at the conference.

Concise details of previous speaking / presentation experience. Signed and completed application form. Per the terms and conditions in this document, it is important to remember, when compiling your

submission, that your presentation must be of benefit to the Oracle, J D Edwards, PeopleSoft, Retek, Siebel or Hyperion users and not used for marketing purposes.

Presentations on-site should be in PowerPoint format (preference PowerPoint 2003 XP version) or similar. No presentations based on Overhead projector slides will be accepted.
