A couple weeks ago, we looked at Hebrews 10:19-25, particularly the reality that we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, and we can draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith(vss. 19, 22). Since that Sunday morning, that reality (And please note that this is not some spiritual wishful thinking. Entering the holy places, drawing near to God, is now a REALITY for those who are in Christ Jesus!) has been ruminating deep in my soul, and I wanted to revisit it by adding two additional revelations Ive had from the Holy Spirit since then. The first epiphany came from my lovely wife, Donda. As we were heading to get lunch after that Sunday morning service, she said it had really struck her that not only did God make a way for us to be saved, but He also purposefully made a way for us to be with Him, to be near Him! He wants us to draw near to Him! Hes not trying to keep us at arms length”! Hes inviting us into His Presence! So why, oh why, dont we avail ourselves of this indescribable blessing more often?! The second revelaon came on a Wednesday morning during our me of prayer. I was deeply moved by the fact that not only had I entered the holy placesin prayer, the rest of the team had entered as well! We were there together! Not only can you and I draw near as individuals, but Hes called us to draw near to Him together! Thats at the heart of the communion of saints, and its at the heart of our connuing to meet together to sr one another up to love and good deeds and encourage one another (vss. 24-25). Greetings in the name of the Lord!

A couple weeks ago, we looked at Hebrews 10:19-25, particularly the reality that “we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,” and we can “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith” (vss. 19, 22). Since that Sunday morning, that reality (And please note that this is not some spiritual wishful thinking. Entering the holy places, drawing near to God, is now a REALITY for those who are in Christ Jesus!) has been ruminating deep in my soul, and I wanted to revisit it by adding two additional revelations I’ve had from the Holy Spirit since then. The first epiphany came from my lovely wife, Donda. As we were heading to get lunch after that Sunday morning service, she said it had really struck her that not only did God make a way for us to be saved, but He also purposefully made a way for us to be with Him, to be near Him! He wants us to draw near to Him! He’s not trying to keep us at “arm’s length”! He’s inviting us into His Presence! So why, oh why, don’t we avail ourselves of this indescribable blessing more often?!

The second revelation came on a Wednesday morning during our time of prayer. I was deeply moved by the fact that not only had I entered the “holy places” in prayer, the rest of the team had entered as well! We were there together! Not only can you and I draw near as individuals, but He’s called us to draw near to Him together! That’s at the heart of the “communion of saints,” and it’s at the heart of our continuing to meet together to stir one another up to love and good deeds and encourage one another (vss. 24-25).

I am continually amazed by our Father’s loving-kindness and goodness to us, and the reality that I can draw near to Him with full assurance—that I am wel-come and that He wants me to come—is as utterly in-comprehensible and indescribable as it is completely glorious and wonderful! So it is my sincere and earnest prayer for you that you will avail yourself of this life-changing, life-giving gift and draw near to God often, knowing that He will draw near to you! (James 4:8)

In His love, Pastor Scott

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY November 2018, page 3

CHILDREN’S SPOTLIGHT

Hat, Scarf & Gloves Drive

The children’s ministry is leading a mission to

help local people in need. They will be collecting

hats, scarves, and gloves to give out in December.

The drive begins November 15, and are asking

everyone in the church to get involved. Please see

Anita Eldridge for more details.

November Birthdays

Abby Hathaway, Jeremiah Larkins, Aidan Brammer, Mandie Ratliff, Donna Ratliff, and Cora Worthy

Blessings Box

We will be putting up a blessings box

on church property and collected non-

perishable items to put inside. Please see

Anita Eldridge for how you can help

with this wonderful project. Suggested

donations will be posted on the bulletin

boards.

Cora Worthy is 8 years old. She

turns 9 later this month after Thanksgiv-

ing.

She is in the 3rd grade at Washington

Elementary. She loves mermaids

(insisting that they are real), unicorns,

and she loves Jesus.

She wants to be a scientist when she

grows up. She loves to do things with

her hands and create things.

November 2018, page 4 LOCAL MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS

Nursing Home Singers

Some may not know that Pam Mooney

visits nursing homes with a group called

The Silver Sounds. They have been sing-

ing to those in nursing homes once a

week, and over time have lost several of

their singers.

If anyone would like to join this group

of men and women, please see Pam for

more information. Thanks, Pam, for serv-

ing in this uplifting ministry!

Jackson Lunch Buddies

When Jackson Elementary asked for

some of us to help out by sitting at lunch

with the older kids, and just being there

to talk with them, Carl Fandl was one of

those that went. Several years later, Carl

is still going up to Jackson and having

lunch once a week with the kids.

It may not seem like a big mission to

sit and listen to a fifth grader, but it is to

the kids. Thanks, Carl, for helping out

every chance you can.

LifeBridge Christian has several Mission Partners, including our own Food Pantry. We

also have several people helping with other local missions that you may not be aware of.

This month’s newsletter is highlighting just a couple of those.

The Oasis

Several of our ladies have been involved with helping out at The Oasis. They asked for

us to fill baskets of everyday items for the women there for a Thanksgiving gift, like we

did last year.

The Oasis is a place for all women that offers a nurturing environment, sharing the love

of Christ and the truth of His word with women of from all walks of life, backgrounds,

cultures, and economic means.

At the Oasis, they are changing the culture for women in our community. All women

are welcome and treated with respect and dignity no matter their circumstances. At the

Oasis, women are encouraged to challenge themselves to take the steps needed to become

both self-sufficient and God-dependant.

Thank you to those taking the time to make sure these women know the love of Jesus,

and also know that they have friends at LifeBridge Christian Church.
