Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, each graduating senior must complete one of the following:

Complete and submit the FAFSA for the TOPS award

Complete and submit the FAFSA for student aid

TOPS 2 Counselor-Crystal Johnson

What are my options after high school?

Students select diploma pathway at the end of their 10th grade year. Counselor may send home a letter identifying your child as TOPS 2 during 10th grade year that will require a response by a certain date.

Five TOPS 2 Majors – page 8-12 Business Management - Digital Media & Entertainment,

Hostpitality, Tourism, Culinary, & Retail - Health Science - Manufactoring, Contruction, & Crafts

Credentials will be earned in TOPS 2 courses. Students must take 9 TOPS 2 electives specific to a pathway one must be a career course and obtain 3 credentials (1 Statewide or 1 Regional/2 Complientary).

Students on the TOPS 2 pathway are required to take this test as well as select students who do not score a 21 on the ACT.

The test is given several times within the year.

Grade 9

A 9th grade student (Freshman) is one who has acquired between 0 and 5 Carnegie units and has been promoted as a result of passing all required coursework and testing at the culmination of 8th grade. At the end of the 9th grade year, to be considered a 10th grader (Sophomore), students must have acquired at least 6 credits *Credits must include one credit each of math and English

Grade 10

At the end of the 10th grade school year, to be considered an 11th grader (Junior), students must have earned 11 credits *Two courses each in English and Math, and one required course in Science and Social Studies. 10th grad students make the decision to pursue either the TOPS 4 or TOPS 2 graduation pathway. Students on the TOPS 2 graduation pathway are required to have two approved TOPS 2 elective credits for placement in the 11th grade.

Grade 11

At the end of the 11th grade year, to be considered a 12th grader (Senior), students must have acquired 17 units of credit that include three courses each in English, Math, and two courses each in Science, and Social Studies.

Grade 12

Must have acquired 24 units for TOPS 4 graduation pathway (23 for students in the TOPS 2 graduation pathway—9 units must be elective credits from the selected major and pass necessary industry-based certifications (IBCs)), including all required courses, and have passed the required EOC and/or LEAP 2025 HS tests shall be eligible for graduation in accordance with Bulletin 741 *Students identified under ACT 833 have alternative graduation requirements designated in

their IEP. Students are required to attempt IBC acquisition, but failure to acquire the sought IBC does not prevent graduation

The deadline for ordering a personalized yearbook (with student name on the yearbook or any other extras) is Feb. 28. You can order online or at the school. $65 is the cost

Order forms are also available tonight.

If you don’t order a yearbook by Feb. 28, you may not be able to get a yearbook later. We have to submit our order total for printing on Feb. 28, we only order about 30 extra yearbooks, and sometimes we sell out.

The price of the yearbook goes up after Feb. 28.
