1 Introduction

This document describes in detail the software that must be installed before the OSS 8.0.0

demo can be installed.

The document contains screenshots of the process to aim installation.

The document has many pages, but it does not take long to install the prerequisites, so please

follow the process carefully.

Please do not skip sections or pages.

If you already have some of the prerequisites installed, please still follow the steps before and

make sure there are no differences between your environment and the steps detailed below.

If at any time during the installation a popup Windows Security Alert appears as show below,

2 Oracle 11.1.0.6.0

This section describes the installation of Oracle Database Server 11.1.0.6.0 Enterprise

Edition.

Before starting the installation, if you have any previous installations of Oracle, ensure all

services have been stopped. This can be checked by going to Start->Control Panel-

>Administrative Tools->Services. Ensure any services starting with the name OracleXXXX

have been stopped and set to manual. The Startup Type can be changes by right clicking the

service and choosing properties.

OSS8 only requires Oracle 11g. Therefore, if you do not wish to keep previous versions of

the demo you can remove these using the installer supplied with the demo and use the Oracle

Universal installer to uninstall the previous versions of Oracle.

If your operating system is Windows 7, you

must first right click on Setup.exe, select

Properties, then the Compatibility tab and

check “Run this program in compatibility

mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3)”.

Click OK to apply the change and close the

Properties windows.

Double click Setup.exe

If you have an existing Oracle installation,

make sure the Oracle Base Location is the

directory containing the “oradata” and

“admin” directories. This is where the

database files will be located when a database

is created. In this example we have used

“c:\oracle”.

Change the Oracle Home Location to the

directory where the 11g product should be

installed. In this example we have used

“c:\oracle\products\11.1.0”.

Uncheck the option to create a starter

database and click Next.

Next we will remove any reference to a specific network (for instance corp.amdocs.com)

from the Oracle files. If you are running your demo on a laptop, this can cause problems

when away from the network.

Navigate to your Oracle 11g home (in our above example we used

“c:\oracle\products\11.1.0” but for Windows 7 you may have installed it within c:\app) and

then navigate to (your oracle home)\network\admin.

Open listener.ora using notepad and remove any “corp.amdocs.com”. For instance:

(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = LAPTOP01.corp.amdocs.com)(PORT = 1521)) to (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = LAPTOP01)(PORT = 1521))

If running Windows 7, you may need to

change permissions on the .ora files before

being able to save the changes.

Right click on listener.ora, select Properties ->

Security -> Edit and for Authenticated Users

all ow Full Control.

Once the demo is installed, you will find a tnsnames.ora file in this location also. You should

also check there are no references to your network.

The most common failure installing the OSS demo is due to Oracle installation problems so

please double check the above steps have been completed correctly.

Please restart your PC and complete the following checks to confirm the installation has

been successful.

After the restart, open a command prompt window and type SQLPLUS /NOLOG. You should

see the version of SQLPLUS as 11.1.0.7.0.

Type EXIT to return to the command prompt. Now check the listener version by running LSNRCTL STATUS.

Check the listener is running (i.e. no errors) and the version is 11.1.0.7.0.

6 Oracle Fusion Middleware

The Configurator product requires an apache server to run the homepages and reports.

In previous releases, the Oracle 9i Apache server was used. Since this is no longer

supported and therefore is no longer available from Oracle, the Oracle Fusion

Middleware product should be used. This section outlines the process of installing

this product.

The full installation of the product only needs to be carried out by partners.

Internal Amdocs employees can use the prerequisites DVD to install the cut

down version.

6.1 Amdocs Employees The prerequisite DVD contains a zip file called

“Oracle_FusionMiddleware111120_Cut-Down.zip”. Extract this file to the “c:\bea”

directory so that after the extraction, the directory contains “c:\bea\Oracle_WT1”.

Below is an example of the directory structure:

6.2 Partners Since Amdocs cannot distribute Oracle components, it is necessary to complete the

full Oracle FM installation. Start by getting the Oracle FM product version 11.1.1.2.0

from the Oracle website and run setup.exe.

8 Additional Prerequisites

This section describes additional software that is required to fully run the OSS demo.

8.1 Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP If required the demo can be run with Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP. Internet Explorer

7 can be downloaded from the following page.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/ie7/

8.2 Adobe Acrobat Reader Download a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader from Adobe’s website.

8.3 AlternaTIFF To full view external documents within the OSS demo, download AlternaTIFF from http://www.alternatiff.com/install-ie/

8.4 DWF Viewer To full view external documents within the OSS demo, download an Autodesk DWF Viewer.

For Amdocs internal installations, the prerequisites DVD includes a DWF Viewer.

8.5 ANT To run the Sync Engine and Planning Engine demos, Ant must be installed. To check if Ant

is already installed, enter “ant –version”, in a cmd prompt. If either an error is reported or you

have an older version than 1.6.5, please follow the instructions below.

Download the following file and unzip it to somewhere appropriate on the PC. For

example into the C:\ drive, which generates C:\apache-ant-1.6.5.

http://archive.apache.org/dist/ant/binaries/apache-ant-1.6.5-bin.zip

Open the system properties by right clicking on 'My Computer', then select the 'Advanced'

tab and click on 'Environment Variables'.

In the System variables box click new and enter the following to create the ant home. If you

already have ant installed then please update the existing entries.

Variable name - ANT_HOME

Variable value - C:\apache-ant-1.6.5

Next click on the Path variable and add the following to the start of the path. If you already

have ant installed remove the reference to the old bin directory.

C:\apache-ant-1.6.5\bin;

If a JAVA_HOME is not already set, in the System variables box click new and enter the

following to create the java home.

Variable name - JAVA_HOME

Variable value - C:\bea\jdk160_11

To check this has worked, open a cmd prompt and enter 'ant -version'. This should output

'Apache Ant version 1.6.5 compiled on June 2 2005' to show that Ant is now working.

You are now ready to install the OSS demo.

9 Keeping 7.5.2 OSS Demos

As long as the Oracle base directory has been selected correctly as per Chapter 2, it is

possible to continue to run the OSS 7.5.2 demonstrations environments. This should only be

necessary if changes or enhancements have been made since their installation.

To do this, the 10g entries must be added to the 11g tnsnames file, so that the 10g database

can still be accessed by the 7.5.2 applications servers.

Using a text editor e.g. notepad, open the tnsnames file located within the 11g oracle

installation. If the instructions within Chapter 2 have been followed, this will be:

C:\oracle\products\11.1.0\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora

Then add the following entries to the bottom of the file, save and exit.

DEMO752 =

(DESCRIPTION =

(address = (protocol = tcp)(host = localhost)(port = 1521))

(CONNECT_DATA =

(SERVER = DEDICATED)

(SERVICE_NAME = DEMO752)

)

)

No changes are necessary to the Weblogic server and domains as these are installed within

different directories.
