    MY CARIBBEAN

The location of the Caribbean in relation to Africa is west. Three main

physical resources in the Caribbean and an example of how each is

    utilised:

Renewable resources - trees - furnitureNon-renewable resources minerals petroleumMineral resources diamonds

Two different aspects of Caribbean culture

Music :- calypsoFood :- national dishes

Two challenges faced by the Caribbean:

Our small size makes us vulnerable to attacksOur dependence on agriculture most of the food is provided by

crops if crops die so does the island or community

Two ways by which the Caribbean could deal with the challenges:

Cut down the large amount of import to the country which spendsa lot of money on which produces more debts to the country

Do not depend on agriculture too much to provide most or all ofthe food in the Caribbean depend on other sources for food

    Five positive effects of globalization:

An open economy spurs innovation with fresh ideas from abroad. Productivity grows more quickly when countries produce goods

and services. Living standards can go up faster

Export jobs often pay more than other jobs Unfettered capital flows gives access to foreign investments and

    keep interest rates low

Global competition and cheap imports keep a lid on prices, soinflation is less likely to derail economic growth

    Five negative effects of globalization:

Millions have lost jobs due to imports or production shiftsabroad. Most find jobs that pay less.

Millions of others fear losing their jobs, especially at thosecompanies operating under competitive pressure.

Workers face pay cut demands from employers, which oftenthreatens to export jobs

Employees can lose their comparative advantage whencompanies build advanced factories in low-wage countries

Services and white collar jobs are increasingly vulnerable tooperations moving offshore
