If a person is unable to work, he or she can be granted a work disability pension regardless of the cause of the disability. In order to focus on prevention and treatment, and to determine the cause, it is important to analyse what is the role of the work itself, and what is the role of the work environment or exposure agents. The difference between an occupational disease and a workrelated disease is quite clear. But it is still not always easy to recognize or diagnose a disease that originates from the work.

Welcome message from author
An occupational disease is a disease or disorder that is caused by the work or working conditions. This means that the disease must have developed due to exposures in the workplace and that the correlation between the exposures and the disease is well known in medical research.
