La ganadora será anunciada el próximo 3 de Marzo en una ceremonia en Londres, Inglaterra. NOMINATED TO THE MOIRA GEMMILL INTERNATIONAL AWARD. Rozana Montiel is among the four finalists of the Moira Gemmill Award for Emerging Architecture 2017, granted by the international British magazine The Architectural Review.This award recognizes the excellence in design and bright future ahead of innovative women architects whose achievements and completed projects have attained social change. The winner will be announced on March 3rd. during a ceremony in London, UK. Es un espacio de materialidad artesanal que combina tierras locales con piedra texcal, piedra canela, y piedra arqueológica, características de Tepoztlán, Morelos. La casa, que invita a descubrir distintos espacios de contemplación inmersos en la vegetación, será concluida en marzo. ALBINO-ORTEGA HOUSE, TO BE INHABITED SOON! This private weekend home in Tepoztlan is experienced as a pleasant promenade of changing atmospheres among multiple terraces. It is a space of crafted design that combines local soils with the texcal stone, cinnamon slab stone and white “archaeological” slab stone characteristic of Tepoztlan, Morelos. The house, which invites to discover multiple garden-immersed spaces for contemplation, will be ready by March. ¡CASA ALBINO ORTEGA POR DE SER HABITADA! ©Sandra Pereznieto Recuperaremos un espacio público en la unidad habitacional de Fresnillo, Zacatecas. La intervención que diseñamos promete un espacio de transición seguro, con un variado programa de actividades lúdicas y de lugares para estar. El área de juegos acogerá al público en un nuevo hábitat de vegetación local. Proyecto realizado en colaboración con Alin V. Wallach, bajo el programa de regeneración urbana y social de INFONAVIT. FRESNILLO INTERVENTION, NOW BUILDING! A large common area amidst the Fresnillo housing unit in Zacatecas will be rehabilitated thanks to our intervention design. The new transitional space will offer a safe playground and recreational area, and welcome the public to a new habitat of local vegetation. Collaborative project with Alin V. Wallach under the “Urban and social regeneration” program of the Workers National Housing Fund Institute (INFONAVIT). ¡FRESNILLO COMIENZA CONSTRUCCIÓN! Rozana Montiel | Estudio de Arquitectura en colaboración con Alin V. Wallach ganó el Premio Ciudad de México a Mejor Intervención Arquitectónica y recibió medalla de plata en la Bienal de Arquitectura Mexicana por el proyecto COMÚN-UNIDAD, que de manera efectiva recuperó el espacio público de la unidad habitacional Xalpa, Azcapotzalco, CDMX. A través del diseño el espacio común de la unidad quedó transformado en un sitio habitable, seguro y con identidad, que hoy por hoy la comunidad mantiene, cuida y llena de vida. COMMON-UNITY: MULTI-AWARDED PROJECT Rozana Montiel | Estudio de Arquitectura, in collaboration with Alin V. Wallach, has won the Mexico City Award to the 2016 Best Architectural Intervention, as well as a Silver Medal in the Mexican Architecture Biennial, for the project COMMON-UNITY. The project was recognized for its effective rehabilitation of public space in the social housing unit of Xalpa, Mexico City. La arquitecta expuso su filosofía ante el jurado en Karlsruhe, Alemania, el pasado noviembre, junto con los otros dos nominados: el despacho De Vylder Vinck Taillieu, de Bélgica, y Atelier Kempe Thill, de Holanda. Montiel comparte esta prestigiosa nominación con ganadores de otras ediciones como Zaha Hadid, Alejandro Aravena y Diébédo Francis Kéré, entre otros. SCHELLING PRIZE NOMINATION! Rozana Montiel was nominated for the International Architecture Award granted every two years by the Schelling Foundation (Schelling Architekturstiftung). She presented her design philosophy to the jury in Karlsruhe, Germany, this past November, together with two other nominees: the Belgian office De Vylder Vinck Taillieu, and the Dutch office Atelier Kempe Thill. Su materialidad es durable, maleable y de poco mantenimiento. La estación garantiza un espacio funcional, habitable, seguro, modular, icónico y exportable. INCINERATING STATION: FINAL BUILDING STAGE! Our prototype will house the furnaces for solid-waste combustion in Mexican national ports and airports. The unique design, product of our research, experiments with a new kind of folded concrete by Basaltex, that is durable, malleable and requires nearly no maintenance. Rozana Montiel ha sido seleccionada por la Rockefeller Foundation y la Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo para una residencia de investigación artística en el Bellagio Center, ubicado en Como, Italia. La residencia permitirá la publicación de un libro basado en su exploración del uso lúdico de espacio público en unidades habitacionales. Montiel interactuará con académicos, artistas, líderes, y gestores, de distintas partes del mundo, a fin de generar un diálogo crítico interdisciplinario. AWARDED ARTS RESIDENT FELLOW 2017 Rozana Montiel has been selected by The Rockefeller Foundation and the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo to participate in an arts residency at the Bellagio Centre, located in Como, Italy. Her research stay will lead to the publication of a book on the ludic uses of public space in social housing units. Montiel will engage with scholars, artists, thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners, from around the world, in critical cross-disciplinary dialogue. El cuarto modelo innova y experimenta con el biopanel, un material de bambú, sustentable y atractivo; con un panel reciclado de poli-aluminio, aislante y seguro. El prototipo se está construyendo en Temixco, Morelos, por Bambuterra, en colaboración con Alin V. Wallach, bajo el programa de INFONAVIT “Un cuarto más”. ¡UN CUARTO MÁS SE ESTÁ CONSTRUYENDO! “ONE MORE ROOM” PROTOTYPE, UNDER CONSTRUCTION! We designed a low-budget room for social housing rooftops, which adds 25sqm to the living area, thanks to its bedroom in the ground floor , one more room and loft height. The room model innovates and experiments with biopanel, a bamboo, sustainable, attractive material; and with recycled, insulating, non-flammable polyaluminum panels. The prototype is now being built in Temixco, Morelos by Bambuterra, in collaboration with Alin V. Wallach, under the “One more room” program of the Workers National Housing Fund Institute (INFONAVIT).
