Remember

• To be authorized to use EGEE and do useful work with it (e.g. submit jobs, transfer files, collaborate) you have to belong to a Virtual Organization (VO)

• To join a VO you must first obtain a Grid certificate

• After the course:– You can get a certificate from GILDA CA and join GILDA VO:

to gain more experience with EGEE technology (process takes ~2 days)

– You can get a certificate from an EGEE CA and join a production VO: to participate in national or international collaborations ~ one week

– You can propose and establish a new VO ~ few months of coordinated effort across sites

Getting access to a production VO

• Getting your EGEE certificate:– List of CAs recognized by EGEE sites:

http://www.eugridpma.org/members/worldmap/ Find the CA nearest to you and request a user certificate

– User certificates are valid typically for 1 year

• Finding and Joining a VO:– Begin with a local VO – next slide

– Or else the NA4 activity portal http://egeena4.lal.in2p3.fr/

• …. A big URL for a big procedure….

To begin with:

• register the VO with EGEE • get access to resources (voms, CE, storage, lfc, rb)

– NOTE: VOs bring these to the EGEE infrastructure!!!

• have those sites be configured – Supported by Regional Operations Centres
