WANTED: Any unwanted white Crockery or Cutlery

If you have any unwanted white crockery, individual plates,

bowls etc, or any unwanted cutlery, they would be very

useful to Food Technology.

Many thanks.

Aerosols

Please could we remind parents and students that aerosols of any kind are not

permitted in school.

Any aerosols found on students will be confiscated.

HOT WEATHER

You may have seen the reports this week predicting extremely hot

weather this weekend.

Next week the forecast suggests temperatures averages of 20

degrees.

Please could you ensure that your child has a water bottle – we have

drinking fountains in school and will be encouraging students to keep hydrated at all times.

Students should wear their normal school uniform to school and if temperatures do rise they will be

encouraged to remove blazers, jumpers and ties.

A number of useful publications have been produced over the years to advise people how to Beat the

Heat:

MOBILE PHONES

In order to ensure clarity the following guidelines will be place for the use of mobile phones from

September 2019.

Mobile phones should be stored in a students bag, turned off, when on site. This applies to the whole

school day.

If a student needs to contact a parent ( for an issue related to the curriculum such as forgotten kit

etc), the SAFE team, HOYS or reception will accommodate this.

If a phone is taken out or seen on site it will be confiscated.

Parent/Guardian will be contacted to arrange collection.

We do understand that parents are reassured to know that their child has a phone to contact them whilst

travelling to and from school. However, we have made the decision to have a complete ban on the school

site for the following reasons:

Promote student wellbeing by removing some of the negative issues associated with social media;

Promote student wellbeing by removing the negative interactions which occur with staff in relation

to inappropraite use of phones which often escalate;

Promote student wellbeing by encouraging students to talk to each other;

Promote student wellbeing by removing yet another distraction in an already busy day for students.

We appreciate your support in

helping us reinforce this by

contacting the school reception if

you need to make contact with

your child during the school

day.

Alternative Learning Week 2019

For the first time students will be engaged in an alternative learning week at the end of the summer

term. Each group will be following a different timetable, which will enable them to develop the “softer

skills” of teamwork, listening, leadership and creativity as well as some time to consider wellbeing.

Uniform rules will be relaxed this week and students are permitted to leave ties and blazers at home.

For sports days, students are requested to come to school in full PE kit
