market while selecting courses

Rector, FAST-NU, Dr. Amir Muhammaed said that students, parents and university officials should be educated on the market demand for various skills to get rid of the current trend in which everybody believes in hearsay resulting in overflow of skilled people in particular fields.

During an interview with daily 'News' published on March 20, 2012, he expressed his grave concerns over the unawareness of people regarding the demand and supply mechanism of skilled people.

He believes that it was basically the r e s p o n s i b i l i t y o f P l a n n i n g Commission and Higher Education Commission (HEC) to design a mechanism that gauge the market need in upcoming years and educate people and university officials on it.

Dr. Amir Muhammed said that FAST-NU strived to offer emerging trends in the local and international market so that students completing their studies not only get degrees but respectable jobs too. “We have been pioneers or among pioneers in introducing many disciplines in our university that include computer s c i e n c e , t e l e c o m m u n i c a t i o n e n g i n e e r i n g a n d b u s i n e s s administration,” he said while informing that FAST-NU was up to introduce power engineering while keeping in mind energy crises in the country.
