Program Description The Neuromuscular Massage Therapist program is a year-long (excluding core), full-time, day program offered on Moultrie’s

Veterans Parkway Campus.

Neuromuscular therapy is a form of injury specific massage that helps to rehabilitate the body after acute and chronic injuries.

The students are trained in advanced assessment and medical charting skills preparing them to work in a medical setting. Upon graduation students will have extensive training in basic relaxation and Swedish massage techniques as well as an advanced certification in Neuromuscular Therapy (NMTAmerican™ version).

The program is approved by the National Certification board of Therapeutic Massage and Body work which allows the students to sit for the National Certification Exam http://www.ncbtmb.org/ .

Students are eligible to sit for any Georgia State Board of Massage Therapies Licensing Exam http://www.sos.georgia.gov/plb/massage/ .

Students will hold certification as a NMT American version practitioner upon graduation as well as an MTC Neuromuscular Therapist diploma.

Employment

Opportunities: There are endless job opportunities available as a therapist, to include: wellness centers, spas, salons, fitness centers, chiropractic offices, physical therapy offices, medical spas, cruise lines, and resorts.

Job Placement: MTC’s Neuromuscular Therapist program graduates are traditionally employed in field at a very high rate. Demand is currently exceeding supply.

Salary: The following are estimates based on employment trends in this area. Business costs (advertising, supplies, equipment, etc.) are not subtracted from the total revenue.

Part time therapist = 49 week year/ minimum of 15 one hour $50 massages per week/ averaging no less than 50% commission per service performed = $18,375

Full time therapist = 49 week year/ minimum of 25 one hour $50 massages per week/ averaging no less than 50% commission per service performed = $30,625

Advancements in the Field: Varies depending on place of employment.

Additional Program Requirements Clinical (NEUT 1060 / NEUT 1120): Offered spring and summer

semesters. Located on MTC Veterans Parkway campus

Pre-clinical requirements: Random drug screen Physical examination TB skin test Criminal background First Aid and CPR Estimated: $165. Not covered by financial aid *Note: tests are valid for one year only.

Licensing exam fees: $195 - $250. Not covered by financial aid.

Neuromuscular Certification fees: Estimated $140

Travel expenses: Community outreach events will require the student to use personal transportation to local businesses in addition to the daily travel to and from class.

Frequently Asked Questions What if I fail a course in the middle of the program? Do I have to start back from the beginning?

No. You have to wait one year until the course is offered again and exempt exams may be required depending on where you left off in the curriculum.

I don’t like to be touched. Do I have to receive massages as well as give them? Yes. Students will trade massages with one another throughout the length of the program. Receiving and giving both count as grades towards your course averages.

Do I have to work on both genders during class and clinical sites? Yes. We do not discriminate against any sex or race as professional therapists in practice.

Do I have to work in a medical office upon graduation?No. You can work in any office, spa, salon, etc. that offers professional massage services.

Does my license cover me state to state? If you are interested in moving to another state after graduation from the program, check that state’s Massage Therapy Boards Reciprocity Rules and Regulations prior to entering the program.
