An artistic journey

Who we are and what we do

Mystica comprises Tovi and Maiyan, a husband and wife team of conceptual artists.

We have been creating together for 15 years and our works are spanned across three countries, Israel, South Africa and Mauritius.

We are always looking for new challenges and exciting places to work.

We focus on quality, originality, depth, aesthetics and try to give meaning to each piece within its own context of cultural influences and expressions.

“Alive” is a mosaic panel that was created for a synagogue in Cape Town, South Africa.

Each piece within the mosaic is individually crafted from the basic clay form. Tovi built a unique wood-fire kiln from local materials in Africa and mixed glazes from raw materials. This special kiln was designed using a fusion of ancient knowledge and hidden power forms.

“Aleph within Aleph” was presented to the Gitlan Jewish Museum and Library in Cape Town, South Africa.

This is a large mosaic wall panel of kabbalistic nature. This work is also made from individually hand crafted pieces fired in the wood-fire kiln.

There are many hidden meanings and attention to detail. Hand made beads are incorporated with touches of gold lustre, strung on delicate silver wire.

“Entrance to Art Gallery”

This collage shows a large mosaic work which measures 27 square meters.

In the majestic, historical town of Swellendam, we built four mosaic water features to enhance a commercial building of stone and glass.

The owner of this building won first prize for architecture after the mosaic art design was installed which also raised its monetary value substantially.
