Music therapy is a research-based profession that uses music intentionally to support people’s health, functioning and wellbeing
It is different from music education or music as entertainment, as it focuses on addressing non-musical goals
Music therapy can be effective at motivating children with special needs, making their learning and development more holistic, meaningful and enjoyable.
Music therapists are individuals who have received a Bachelor's degree or higher in music therapy and have passed their board-certification exam and been approved for licensure. Music therapists assess the strengths and needs of each client based on an evaluation that is taken at the beginning of treatment. In music therapy sessions, our children work hard on their goals in a supportive environment where they are motivated by instrument play, vocalization and musical games and activities.
