Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises-Development Institute, Agra was established in September 1956.Earlier it was known as Small Industries Service Institute after the Enactment of MSME Act in Parliament on 2nd October 2006 it is now known as MSMS Development Institute. Now its services stretched for Service Sector & enhanced its services up to Medium Enterprises too.

The geographical jurisdiction of this Institute has spread over 22 districts of Western U.P. including two new Districts formed namely Shamli & Sambhal. The names of the district are as follows:

Services Imparted by the Institute

MSME-DI, Agra is extending techno managerial and economic consultancy services for the development of small-scale units and provides comprehensive range of industrial extension services ranging from identification of suitable line of production to marketing of the product. Facilities for Technical Consultancy services are being provided in the fields of the Following Disciplines:

o Mechanical, o Metallurgy, o Metal Finishing, o Electrical, o Leather & Footwear, o Food, o Glass & Ceramic, o Chemical, o The Industrial Management Training (IMT), o Potential Index (PI) o Economic Investigation (EI)

Objectives

The objectives of MSME-DI, Agra, are to provide Technical Consultancy Services to the entrepreneurs in addition to Industrial Management Trainings, Entrepreneurs & Skill Development Programmers’, Short Term Management Trainings for Small Scale Entrepreneurs, Industrial Motivational Campaigns, Implementation and Monitoring of PMEGP Scheme,

Awareness on Assisting& Providing the Entrepreneurs in Marketing Assistance through Domestic & International Exhibitions , Quality Control & it’s up gradation and Ancillary Development.

The Institute also provides Market Information, Industrial Potential Survey Report, Statistical Information, Identification of Thrust Industries, Export Promotion, Preparation of Directories & Status Reports of MSME units, Economic Information to set up small-scale units. Various New Schemes under NMCP Scheme were Implemented/Introduced like Lean Manufacturing, MATU, State Level Fairs. Corporate Governance, LLP, QMS/QTT, Design Clinic, ISO-9000, Bar Codling, IPR , Small Tool Room etc. etc.

ASSISTANCE / CONSULTANCY TO PROSPECTIVE

ENTREPRENEURS

During the reporting year 2013-14, the MSME- Development Institute, Agra has provided assistance and Consultancy to prospective entrepreneurs. The assistance & Consultancy consists of various fields such as selection of product & location, which is more important in establishing a new venture. Selection of machinery & Technology is also one of the inevitable things to know before going for a new industry under which numerous prospective entrepreneurs has been assisted. Marketing & Finance are also one of the unavoidable things.

Wherein the Institute provided information and assistance to approximately 26000 Entrepreneurs i.e. prospective one’s as well as guidance given to existing Industrialists also. About 15000 entrepreneurs have been provided assistance and Consultancy through various trainings/campaigns and about 4700 entrepreneurs were assisted through Personal Visits on man to man basis, DICs & Information Facilitation Counter and a chunk of entrepreneurs were assisted through other Agencies such as Industrial Associations , Lead banks etc.

Assistance / Consultancy Rendered to Existing Units Present Scenario in the industrial world requires Updation of know how

and improvement in quality and product which enable the existing units to compete in the market. Officers of the Institute extended their assistance and Consultancy to about 3200 entrepreneurs in the field of plant and machinery including lay out, use of improved manufacturing technology/design process, improvement in tooling and quality, product development and rendered Consultancy for diversification.

MANAGEMENT RELATED ASSISTANCE/ CONSULTANY

RENDERED

The Institute assisted 1200 existing units in the field of managerial capability improvement through NVDPS & Intensive Technical Assistance and 460 units were assisted through management trainings.

MAEKETING/ FINANCE RELATED CONSULTANCY/

ASSISTANCE

The Institute provided marketing/finance-related assistance to about 3700 entrepreneurs. The Consultancy / Assistance include improvement in marketing, availability of finance and GPP (NSIC Registrations). Total 122 units assisted through PP Registration. This type of assistance will help the entrepreneurs to improve their position by availing various financial assistances provided by the different Organizations.

ASSISTANCE / CONSULTANCY AT A GLANCE In a nut-shell during the reference year this Institute provided Certificates to the Participants after their successful completion of ESDP 2406, MDP 819, EDP 460, IMC 9847, and Total 13654 in 272 Programmes.

Consultancy Services to prospective entrepreneurs, Assistance/Consultancy rendered to units, Management related Assistance/Consultancy rendered to units, Marketing/Finance related Consultancy given to existing units. On the whole units/entrepreneurs were benefited in the field of Mechanical, Metallurgy, Chemical, Food, Glass & Ceramic, Leather & Footwear and Electrical, Service industry, Industrial Management, Economic and Statistical discipline.

Project Profiles Technical officers of this Institute have prepared 40 Project Profiles against the self proclaimed target of 30. This is an art of identification of new products, which can be introduced and promoted in the MSME Sector. These project profiles comprise almost all the information regarding a particular product such as availability of raw materials, cost of production, marketing facilities, which are more useful to the new entrepreneurs.

MSME-DI, Agra is organizing Tailor Made Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programmes (ESDPs) regularly for different group of people in the society such as Educated Unemployed Youths, Women, Minorities and Weaker Section etc. The main objectives of such type of Programmes are designed for Enhancement of Skill & Entrepreneurial qualities for the prospective entrepreneurs and to prepare and motivate the new entrepreneurs to set up their own Small Scale Units.

Entrepreneurs Development Programme

MSME-DI, Agra is organizing Entrepreneurship Development

Programmes (EDPs) regularly for Educated Unemployed Youths, Women, and Weaker Section etc. The main objectives of these Programmes are to develop entrepreneurial qualities in the Youth & Upcoming generation of the country to prepare and motivate themselves to set up their own ventures. State Level Vendors Development Programmes

This year the Institute was assigned 16 State Level Vendors Development Programmes. After the announcement of Public Procurement Policy such type of Programme has its own importance. Even Industry Associations are much interested to disseminate the information with the PSUs attending the Programme. A new experiment was carried out by this office instead of calling the PSUs to the venue of the Programme we organized a trip of about 40 Industrialists of Indian Industry Association Saharanpur to visit the BHEL Haridwar Campus under the Flagship of MSME DI Agra for Assessment of the Procurement Procedure & Items being purchased by BHEL Ranipur. The Programme was coordinated by Mr. A.Sanyal DGM BHEL who was one of the members of drafting Committee of GOIs’ Public Procurement Policy. The Delegation also met with The Executive Director (Designated CMD) of BHEL Sh. Rajender Kumar. The Member of Prime Ministers Task Force for MSMEs Sh Ram Ji Suneja, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh of IIA Shri Pramod Miglani & four Past Chairmen of I.I.A also visited under the SVDP Programme. The activity was much appreciated by the Delegation.

The Institute is having a vast range of technical books & journals. This year too so many new books were purchased .The library fund of Rs.1,00,000/ was utilized for upgrading the same. Rs.20,000/ Expenditure for the Purchase of Furniture, Rs 40,000/ for the purchase of Technical Books, Journals, Magazines in English & Rs 40,000/ for the purchase of Technical Books, Journals, Magazines in Hindi.

An Awareness Programme under NMCP Scheme on "Enabling MSME

Manufacturing Sector to be competitive through Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools (QMS/QTT)" was organized on 20/03/2014 at Agra in association with Factory Owner’s Association, Nunhai, Agra. There were 101 Participants in the Programme.

Training Programmes under HRD Scheme of NCDPD M/o .Textiles GOI. During Seven One weeks’ programmes for the Artisans of different clusters of Agra 175 persons were developed to their respective trades. Rs. 70,000/ was earned by the institute for providing Infrastructural support during Oct 13 to January 14 . Seven Programmes were organized during the year under the P/D Account.

• The Honble Secretary Shri Madhav Lal Visited Saharanpur on 27 May 2013 & visited the Wooden Cluster & also visited CFC of Photo Framing Centre Saharanpur &Two meetings were organized at the Circuit House Saharanpur one with the members of Indian Industries Association & the other with CDS wood handicraft center.

• The Hon’ble Joint Development Commissioner Sh. R.K.Pandey Visited the Cluster of Moradabad during the Month of July 13

• A team of NIMSE Hyderabad visited for assessment of Packaging Programme.
