EDWARD D. LAPRADE: President & CEO, ADNET Technologies, LLC

Presenting: Opening & Closing Remarks

Ed Laprade founded ADNET in 1991 with the idea that combining technical expertise with business

acumen would create a uniquely valuable computer consulting firm. Under his leadership, ADNET

has grown significantly and become one of the leading systems integrators in New England. Mr.

Laprade oversees business development activities, leads the Software Development group, has

championed the formulation of ADNET's market-leading ASAP methodology, and continually looks

for opportunities to deliver business impact with technology.

Prior to starting ADNET, Mr. Laprade had experience and proven leadership in business and

information technology, including technology roles at Bell Labs, NCR, The Phoenix, and Price

Waterhouse, and a founding role at Integrated Management Systems. As President and CEO of

ADNET, Mr. Laprade has overseen the strategic growth of the organization with a focus on building

new business partnerships and strengthening long-term relationships with ADNET clients. Under the

leadership of Mr. Laprade, ADNET has grown from a startup to four divisions with over 35

employees whose mission is to understand and then solve business problems using technology. He

has instilled a philosophy of hire extremely bright technologists who happen to think like business

people. Mr. Laprade's strategy is to continue to grow the organization both organically and through

acquisition.

Mr. Laprade is a long-standing member of several prominent industry peer groups that focus on

driving sustainable business growth, served several terms as the Chairman of the Town of Suffield

Technology Committee, and is actively involved in programs dedicated to the development of

today's business students. Mr. Laprade holds his AAS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology

from the University of Hartford and his BS and MS in Accounting from the University of

Massachusetts.

Daniel A. Schwartz: Member of the Firm Pullman & Comley

Presenting: Social Media: “Friend” or “Foe?”

A member of Pullman & Comley’s Labor & Employment practice, Dan has extensive trial and litigation experience in both the federal and state courts in a variety of areas, and represents employers in various employment law matters. Since 2007, he has been publishing the Connecticut Employment Law Blog to cover new and noteworthy developments in employment law in Connecticut and provide a forum for further debate and exploration of these issues. Since the blog’s inception, it has received nearly two million views.

Dan is listed in Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers to Businesses in the area of labor and employment and was named to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list in 2011/2012 and listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2013. He was a recipient of the "40 under 40" Award from the Hartford Business Journal in 2010 and in 2009, was named by the ABA Journal as one of only 50 "Legal Rebels" nationwide - attorneys who are bringing innovation and new ideas to the legal profession. Dan is a frequent presenter on a wide range of employment law and commercial litigation topics.

Christopher J. Luise: Executive Vice President, ADNET Technologies, LLC

Presenting: Technology Has Evolved: Have You?

Christopher Luise is Vice President of Infrastructure Services at ADNET Technologies, LLC. Early in his career, Christopher co-founded ADNET with President & CEO Edward Laprade, and worked for several years as Vice President responsible for new business development. In 1995, he left ADNET and spent the next 13 years driving innovative, technology-based solutions in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Christopher returned to ADNET in 2008 to lead the Infrastructure Services, Engagement, and Marketing teams with a full-time focus on strategy, operations, and branding.

Christopher has over 20 years of experience and proven leadership in business and information technology. His vision as an executive-level manager with a unique background in IT strategy and marketing has driven success and sustained growth in global brands within the financial services industry and the technology sector. Throughout his career, Christopher has focused on developing progressive service models and engaging successful new business opportunities. As the CEO of European operations for a large financial services firm, he built integrated and synergistic teams in Berlin and London, and guided the organization to profitability through an economic recession and corporate acquisitions. Christopher has spearheaded significant change initiatives that have strengthened global brands and created award-winning employment cultures for his staff.

At ADNET, Christopher is responsible for the technology direction of the organization, with a strong focus on building strategic, long-term partnerships with ADNET’s clients and technology partners.

Michelle Syc: Senior Analyst, Advisory & Assurance Services, ADNET Technologies, LLC

Presenting: Essentials for a Cybersecurity Framework

Michelle D. Syc, CISSP, CEH, has over 10 years of experience in risk management. Her focus in the cyber security and compliance industry allows her to assist clients with identifying and assessing information system related risks and implementing strategies to manage those risks.

Michelle has extensive experience managing security audits, which include ethical hacking, penetration studies, and social engineering projects. She assists organizations in properly aligning information security spending to cost-effectively reduce the risk of data loss. Michelle designs test plans to evaluate control objectives and to identify weaknesses in the information technology control structure. She assists organizations in complying with information security regulations such as HIPAA, PCI DSS, MA201CMR and other Federal and state regulations.

She is a member of the Connecticut InfraGard chapter, which partners with the FBI to share information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.

Tim Weber: Manager, Infrastructures Services, ADNET Technologies, LLC

Tim Weber, Manager of Infrastructure Services, has been with ADNET since 1994 and works closely with clients on advanced projects focused on Security, Exchange, Virtualization and Unified Communications. Tim is a Microsoft Certified Trainer and a frequent instructor for ADNET on Microsoft Exchange, as well as a speaker for industry events.

Steven J. Bonafonte: Member of the Firm Pullman & Comley

Presenting: Developing a Sound Cybersecurity Strategy to Comply with Privacy Laws and Avoid Security Breaches

Steven J. Bonafonte is a member of Pullman & Comley's Corporate and Business Department. His practice includes providing general counsel services to corporate and government entities, privacy, information security, ethics and compliance, and anti-fraud and corporate internal investigations.  

Previously, Steve served as managing corporate counsel and as the enterprise privacy and corporate compliance officer at a Fortune 100 financial services company, where he led a team of attorneys and other professional staff in managing global privacy practices and diverse corporate compliance initiatives. Steve also developed legal anti-fraud protocols and directed major case investigations and filing of affirmative civil anti-fraud RICO litigation against suspected fraudulent medical providers and other organized ring activity. Prior to these roles, he provided principal legal counsel to several diverse internal business groups including Information Technology (internal compliance, vendor contracts), Marketing and Communications (legal review and compliance) and Global Sourcing (cross-border data transfer, business continuity).

Steve was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court as a representative member on the State of Connecticut's Commission on the Death Penalty, serving from 2001-2003. He also served as a member of the City of Hartford's Civilian Police Review Board from 2000-2002 and as the City of Hartford's human relations commissioner from 2000-2002.

Steve also serves as the General Counsel of the Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Steve is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).

Tom Beggan: Northeast Channel Systems Engineer, Brocade Communications

Presenting: Software Defined Networking (SDN) - Creating Intelligent LAN Infrastructures

Tom Beggan has been in the LAN infrastructure industry for almost 20 years, starting in Technical Sales Support and working his way through various positions in Technical Training, Systems Engineering, Product Marketing, Product Management and Product Development. Tom joined Brocade in 2011 where he’s been working as a Channel Systems Engineer for the New England and Upstate New York region.

Mike Meyer: Director of Service Delivery, Peak 10

Presenting: Considering Securing Your Critical Infrastructure in the Cloud

Mike Meyer is the Director of Service Delivery for the National Alliance Program at Peak 10.  Mike brings more than 10 years of IT experience to support the Peak 10 Sales and Operations teams in designing and coordinating solutions for Peak 10 partners and clients.  Mike works closely with partners and clients to ensure the proper design and execution of solutions to meet clients’ unique needs.  Mike holds several degrees from the University of Kentucky and Indiana Wesleyan University, as well as technical certifications in systems, networking, network security, and virtualization technologies.  In addition to his drive for technology, Mike is the author of “Solomon Assembly: The Book,” and founder of www.solomonassembly.com, a faith-based organization focused on Christian men’s ministry.

Dan Antion: Vice President, Information Services, American Nuclear Insurers

Presenting: “Four Fried Chickens and a Coke”

Dan is Vice President, Information Services for American Nuclear Insurers, a role he has held for 25 of his 35 years in business. He is responsible for systems development, ANI’s network infrastructure and communication systems. Dan joined ANI when most transactions were manually processed, and advanced communications meant sending a fax. Dan has managed a measured but constant adoption of new technology to automate and improve all aspects of information management at ANI. Dan serves on the Board of Directors of AIIM International and is responsible for Programs and Marketing for the New England Chapter of AIIM. Dan blogs and speaks about SharePoint and ECM, rants about stupid behavior and enjoys biking, woodworking and photography.

Brian Mulligan: Sales Manager, Comcast Enterprise Services

Presenting: Next Generation Connectivity

Brian Mulligan serves as Enterprise Sales Manager for Comcast’s Western New England Region. In this role, Mulligan is responsible for overseeing Comcast’s Enterprise Business Services efforts for the region, which encompasses 300 communities in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.

Mulligan works to lead the continued explosive growth of Comcast’s Enterprise Business Class suite of offerings. Launched in 2011, Comcast Business Class Ethernet offers high-performance point-to-point and multi-point Metro Ethernet services with the capacity to deliver cloud computing, software-as-a-service, business continuity/disaster recovery and other bandwidth-intensive applications.

Before joining Comcast, Mulligan held the position of Director of Sales for Resolute Partners. His previous sales and industry experience also includes positions with SNET, SBC, and AT&T.

A native of Oakville, Connecticut, Tzoumas resides in Meriden, CT, with his wife, his two children.

Dennis Mudry: Senior Sales Engineer, Comcast Enterprise Services

Presenting: Next Generation Connectivity

Dennis Mudry serves as a Senior Sales Engineer for Comcast’s Western New England Region. In this role, Dennis is responsible for customer solutions, network design and sales support efforts for the region which include Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, New York and Vermont.

Dennis started his career at Comcast in 2009 and has been instrumental in the launch of Western New England’s Metro Ethernet network which offers high-performance optical point-to-point and multi-point network services as well as cloud based IP telephony.

Before joining Comcast, Dennis held the position of Senior Network Architect for Virtela Technologies. He has held pre and post engineering positions with UUnet, MCI WorldCom, CompuServe network services and Sprint. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration from Post College. He is a Cisco certified internetwork professional and Ciena Carrier Ethernet administrator.

Brendan is a Systems Specialist with over 4 years of experience deploying, supporting and managing IT solutions. He has worked with ADNET for over 2 years and specializes in providing direct end-user support to clients in a wide variety of industries. Brendan works on-site at our clients’ locations throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. His work can include everything from PC installations, setting up new users on their servers and providing guidance on the best way to utilize clients’ IT systems. Brendan is very proactive in his position by recommending solutions to recurring issues and staying abreast of industry changes and new technologies.

Jim Mulholland: Northeast Regional Sales Manager, WatchGuard

Presenting: Things That Go Bump in The Night: Security Weaknesses in Everyday Technologies

Jim Mulholland has been with WatchGuard for the past 5 years and has 30 years of IT, Networking and Internet Security experience.

His experience including working with small, medium and enterprise accounts including the DOD, US House of Representative, MBNA, Blue Cross and Aetna. Jim has a strong background in IT Security and Compliance and was one of three founders for Triton Technologies which produced a remote access product called Co/Session which won numerous awards in PC Magazine and LAN Magazine.

Bill has been with ADNET for 8 years and works as a Design Engineer. He has over 18 years of extensive experience with Microsoft products, Unified Communications, Voice & VoIP Systems, Unified Messaging, Data Protection Manager, WAN technologies and voice access lines. Before coming to ADNET, Bill spent 10 years with SBC (formerly SNET) where he held several positions including technical sales of mobility products, PBX and voicemail systems, as well as pre-sales engineering for Cisco LAN/WAN equipment and VoIP systems.

Danielle Hernandez, Team Leader, Instructor and Consultant, joined ADNET in 2007 as an Applications Instructor. She quickly grew into a consultant role and has recently been promoted to Team Leader. Danielle is responsible for delivering training to clients, customizing courses to meet specific client needs, and developing course manuals, handouts and outlines for clients and the sales team.
