My lovely readers, What a turbulent month it’s been! With
the new key club term just starting out and
standardized testing rearing its ugly head,
one thing’s for sure— we’ve all been quite
busy! Nevertheless, being immersed in Key
Club spirit at both club and divisional events
is a sure solution to all of our testing angst.
Don’t forget that through it all, we’re
all Key Clubbers at heart, and nothing can
stifle our spirit and love of service! Let’s con-
tinue this month as strong as we were in the
very beginning, and never falter in serving
with passion and dedication ♥
With love (and hugs),
Cindy Ye, Divisional Editor

MARCH FOR BABIES

MARCH FOR BABIES
—Jacqueline Tsang
Underneath the hot sun were thirty one Starfish
marching on to save babies. Those thirty one starfish
raised $49 dollars to help premature babies to live.
It was great being surrounded by that feeling of fam-
ily and united spirit. We all can definitely recall some
great memories from that event. Perhaps it was how
awkward yet hilarious it was joining one of your body
parts to another even if you just met them. Others
may clearly remember the feeling seeing the fast
walkers just waiting on the side of the march for the
whole division to start walking again as one since it
seems as if some starfish got caught amongst the
waves ( of people … get it?). Maybe it even might
have been seeing a ballerina be a rather silly dancer.
Yet that doesn’t even cover all of the great times
from March of Dimes. After the walk, everyone stayed for some grub as
well as my Division Council Meeting. It was wonderful
really getting to inform everyone of what is coming up
along with achievements we have made in the past
month.
April 27th really showed me why I am the lucki-
est person to serve Division 3 North. We are one big,
happy family. We all are so spirited, motivated, pas-
sionate, and dedicated that it inspires me. I want to
thank everyone who attended March of Dimes, sup-
porting me at the first event of my term, and help
making it the best event I have attended. Afterward, being able to hear “this was one of the best
events that you have attended!” really warmed my
heart. I hope to continue to bring opportunities to bond
as a family while serving and having a wonderful time.
I can’t wait to see you all soon. If you were not able to
attend this event, fear not since there are many more
wonderful events to come!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH
CLUB OF THE MONTH OFFICER OF THE MONTH
Despite the fact that she was former of-
ficer of the club, Melody Azani is an ex-
ceptional member who carries out her
spirit and pride very proudly. The love
she has for the club is her aura and is
shines out as it tries to reach for the peo-
ple around it. She gives it her all despite
the fact that she should be getting
ready for the fall semester as her major
and college is already picked. The pure
hearted person she is, she can’t help
but be kind and help the people
around her to fit in with the new family
and encourage them to do their best.
,A caretaker and a unique soul, she is a
keeper of the Kiwanis Family.

LC Secretary David Jin has done his very
BEST to show up to all the events during this
month regardless of the heavy and uneven
scheduling of their actual dates. David also
showed sincere effort into settling in his
new position quickly so that he would be
ready and on task. At the Kiwanian take-
over, everyone absolutely loved his sense
of humor and selflessness. This person
brightens the atmosphere. David truly puts
forth his best efforts to introduce Key Club
to other at our school and tries even
harder to serve and lead the members al-
ready involved. Without him, La Canada
Key Club would not be as much fun and
exciting as it is when he is around!

Despite being a smaller club, VH
Key Club has shown stunning growth in
the past month in member participation
at local and divisional events. This notice-
able growth was seen especially at the
March of Dimes, where 8 VH Key Clubbers
represented their school with cheers that
exemplified Key Club spirit. This was a
wonderful start to the new Key Club term
for them, and we hope that VH will con-
tinue to shine in the coming months.
CLUB REPORTS The Special Olympics @Crescenta Valley HS The Special Olympics is an event where disabled ath-letes come and compete with each other. This year we had over 200 athletes coming from Antelope Valley, Glendale, Tri-Valley, and many more. Before the athletes could com-pete, however, they did the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony had the Marching Band playing, Color Guard dancing, and the cheerleaders cheering them on. The cheer-leaders had a special cheer just for the athletes, which made them pumped up. Afterwards, the athletes warmed-up with a stretching routine, which was led by a USC coach. Then the games began, with races going on con-stantly. The awards were handed out by the firemen and po-licemen who congratulated all the athletes for doing their best. There were smiles everywhere for you to see. The vol-unteers were put in a buddy system with the athletes to ac-commodate the athlete with anything they need. Not only did they help the athlete they also became their friend. This event was an amazing experience not only for the accomplish-ments, but also the new friendships.

What club-level events have occurred this month?
Kiwanis Work Day / Kiwanis One Day was dedicated to sprucing up the Cresenta-Canada YMCA. Members who enjoy hands-on service were able to work on a variety of pro-jects such as painting hand rails, fitting floor-ing, and sealing black top. Key Club member Adam Oler voiced his thoughts about the event, saying "I enjoyed how we all collectively worked for the same goal. It wasn't a huge event, but it was a project that brought people closer. It created a closer bond with Kiwanis, Key Club, and Builders Club!
