Advanced use cases being requested by clients
Ability to schedule customer appointments Match customer's location and requirements with technician's skills and availability to schedule a service
appointment
Model a complex project plan using real world interdependencies of tasks A plant turnaround requires many dependent actions to shutdown the location, perform project work, and re-
start the location to bring it back to an operational stage
Ensure resources with the right qualifications are assigned to work with special requirements Supervisors need to ensure that technicians have valid certifications to do the work
How do the current traffic conditions effect work in progress? Incorporate real-time traffic conditions to better route technicians to their work locations
Handle larger volumes of data Many Maximo clients require the ability to manage a heavy volume of work orders be it for shutdowns,
turnarounds, outages, or for dispatching field technicians

Managing Complex Network Dependencies
Use Case - While planning a plant shutdown 100s to 1000s of tasks need to be completed in a specific order. Work order 1 must be completed before work order 2 can start.
Joe, the Planner, generates work orders from many job plans to make up one project; which may include an

isolation/shutoff of a complex asset, multiple subassembly tasks such as replacement, firmware updates, PM work and lastly a return to service of the complex asset.
The planner pulls all this work into a schedule and graphically links the relationships between these various tasks to allow minimum down time and maximize productivity by allowing work to be started as soon as its prerequisites are satisfied.

Managing Projects
Use Case Joe, the Planner, is managing a turnaround at an oil exploration site. Using the Pert Chart view in Scheduler Plus, he reviews all the work orders created for the project and updates the dependencies. He views the highlighted critical path of the network of dependencies and focuses on the important activities that have the biggest impact to the schedule finish. He then tracks the overall progress by looking at the percent complete data to ensure that things are moving as planned and starts the process of alerts and notifications on any exceptions he identifies.

Appointment Booking
Use Case John calls his local utility provider to request service. Liz, the customer service representative, looks up Johns address and selects the appropriate Job Plan for the required work. She looks up available appointment slots based on staffing and other commitments made. Liz provides John a few dates to choose from. Liz and John book Wednesday 10 AM. (The appointment can be rescheduled, if required).
This process automatically creates a scheduled work order for Johns premise and is ready for a Supervisor to assign technician(s) to.

Using Weather w/ Appointment Booking
Use Case John calls his local utility provider to request service. Liz, the customer service representative, determines that this will be a half day job that requires both indoor and outdoor work. She looks up available appointment slots. System Administrator has set up Scheduler Plus to visualize 10 days of basic weather forecast in all views that contain a geo code (asset/location). From this data, the system determines that Wednesday and Thursday mornings have the lowest probability of precipitation at Johns home location. Liz and John book Wednesday morning.

Weather Integration (Graphical Scheduling)
Use Case - Joe, the Planner, configures the information that he wishes to see on his schedules for current, daily and hourly weather. He looks at a 2 week rolling schedule and decides to filter down to work orders on assets that could be affected by weather. He uses the tool tip on each row to see the formatted weather forecast for each asset on its scheduled date.
Release 1
From the daily forecast view, he elects to open the hourly view for the duration of the work. He feels confident that the crew can travel to, perform the required work, and return back without an adverse weather impact. Joe now approves the work and commits the scheduled dates.

Weather Integration (Graphical Assignment)
Use Case - Joe, the Planner, configures the information that users want to see on their schedule for things like current, daily, and hourly weather. Fred, the Supervisor, looks at tomorrows schedule and reviews work on assets that could be affected by weather. He uses the tool tip on each row to see the formatted weather forecast for each asset on its scheduled date. After looking at the hourly view for the duration of the work, he feels confident that the crews can travel to, perform the required work, and return back without
