Digger/Gents,

Firstly, let me start by apologising for neglecting my only really important duty as Best Man so

comprehensively. By all accounts my deputy has, and will continue to do a grand job in helping make it a

memorable tour for all the right reasons. For me, flight costs weren’t the issue nor was the need to take

time off. Missing the chance to spend a romantic valentines evening with my loved one and show her how

much she truly means to me was just not something that my conscience would ever allow me to consider.

Besides, I’ve got my eye on the Lion’s Tour, and the Brownie Points Passport is currently looking whiter

than Michael Barrymore’s social calendar.

Whilst I’m sure that leaves you (Digger) disappointed by the lack of off-field scandals that any stag do with

me undoubtedly brings, you’ll be heartened by the fact that ‘we’ll take my ball again’ will be a phrase less

spoken by you this time around.

Anyway………..

………the waiting is almost over for the 2013 Ryder Cup to get underway and as always, the competitive,

cum sadistic mannerisms of players old and new are expected to overflow again like a badly poured San

Miguel. Of course such mannerisms (via previous Tours) have lead to some of the best golf(ish) related

quotes in history. Here are a couple of my personal favourites from tours of old. Let’s hope there are a few

more belters thrown into the ring this time round, my speech could certainly do with a couple!

F**k me, Snaaaaaaaake! – Parky (Spain, 2004)

Who the f**k thought wearing black shirts in 35 degree heat was a good idea? – Various (Spain, 2004)

Guys, check this out, I’m pissing pure Guinness – CJ (Chester, 2005)

Good evening gentleman, I see you’ve brought your hungry friend with you again – Indian waiter (Chester,

2005)

In true Kiwi fashion all, ‘go hard or go home’. Nail your drives, sink your putts, let the banter flow like a well

matured Rioja, party like rock stars, and top up those night club tans for the pending wedding pics. Looking

forward to catching those highlights in March, which don’t make it to Crimewatch!.

Stick a Dog up ya Digger and get knotted!

Regards

CJ ( and the Big Fella )

Talk the talk in Malaga!

no te preocupes por eso! Don’t worry about that!

¿Qué quiere decir el bar está cerrado? What do you mean the bar is shut?

Ningún funcionario, yo preferiría que no me arrestaron! No officer, I would prefer it if you did not arrest me!

¿Has visto Johno? Have you seen Johno?

Lo siento señor, no quise cortar el curso en pedazos! Sorry Sir, I did not mean to hack the course to bits!

13 pintas, amable señor! 13 pints, kind sir!

Benalmadena – cuál está ocurriendo?

Situated just west of Malaga and Torremolinos, Benalmadena is a thriving resort which boasts a multitude of fabulous night clubs,

discos and late night bars. Most of the larger are more raucous clubs are situated in the aptly named 24-hour Square on the coast

road, and the rest are in the award- winning Marina itself.

For a more sophisticated dance scene, it is worth a stroll down to the Marina, where several bars overlooking the boats have dance

floors and live music at weekends. You can expect to pay up to three times the normal bar prices for drinks here, especially during

July and August.

Down Town Benalmadena (24 Hour Square)

Kiu

This is the largest and most popular club in 24-hour Square, and hosts a fabulous Ladies Night on Thursdays. Boasting

three dance floors; Sala Latino, Hard-core Dance and Chart music, and with bubbly decor, the entrance leads to what

appears to be a run-of-the-mill disco bar. But a huge door at the far end of the club leads into the Atlantis room, a huge

banging club with great lighting, metal décor and balconies.

Mango is also a good atmosphere with a young crowd, plus, most of the bars have a small dance floor and throbbing

music.

Benalmadena Marina

Boals Ice Bar

First Ice bar on the Costa del Sol, where everything is made of ice, including the bar, the walls and the glasses. Situated

in the marina area, visitors are provided with gloves, socks and coats on the way in, and this is the most unusual late

night bar you will ever find. Inspired by the Finnish ice hotels, this is a fabulous place to chill out – quite literally. The ice

stools and seats are covered to stop you sticking to them, and the drinks are served cold, very cold. Subtle lighting and

lively music add to the unique ambience.

Banana Café

This is a place for the young to dance the night away to all types of music. There is a big dance floor and the cocktail list

is as long as the night. Situated in the marina, close to some of the best late night venues in Benalmadena, this club

attracts visitors from far and wide. Drinks are reasonably priced and the music plays on until the small hours of the

morning. Cool and hip with a predominantly young crowd.

La Cubana

Large outside terrace and bar as well as bar inside. This is a favourite place for dancing salsa to the all night music. A

real hot, Caribbean experience with some fabulous sounds from guest DJs in the summer. La Cubana keeps rocking

until the early hours of the next day, and is a favourite amongst clubbers of all ages. Salsa fans from all over the Costa

del Sol come here to shake their stuff and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere.

Disco-Terraza Monet

This club is a coffee meeting place in the afternoon and becomes one of the hot spots of the port by night. Mainly

frequented by foreigners, but also draws in many of the local and Malaga city young people, because of the great music

and atmosphere.

Disco-café Kaleido

This club has three different sections, each with its own different atmosphere. There is an outside terrace another one

inside and a large inside dance area where there is a huge fish tank with tropical fish in it, giving the place a really exotic

atmosphere.

Buzby's Bar

Cabaret and top Costa acts at this Brit run bar. Comedy, hypnotist acts and impressionists, as well as music. Located

across from the Hotel Villasol on the coast road.

Alhaurin Golf was designed by Severiano Ballesteros. The main course is a par-72 situated on undulating terrain,

giving it considerable appeal which, added to the original design by the legendary Seve, makes it a real challenge for

the strong player and great entertainment for medium to high handicappers.

It comprises 5 par-3 holes, 5 par-5s and 8 par-4s, each one different from the rest, all of them challenging,

demanding, original and fun. Over the 18 holes you will come to enjoy the superb contrast between the manicured

fairways, rough and the untamed surroundings of the Sierra de Mijas.
